HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. A member of New Birth Charlotte filed a lawsuit against prominent pastor Bishop Eddie Long, accusing him of coercing a teenager into a sexual relationship.
New Birth Charlotte in Huntersville is a satellite church of Long's New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia. The lawsuit claims the bishop took the teen to Kenya in 2005 and engaged in sexual activities. Bishop Long then allegedly encouraged the teen to move to Atlanta, where the activity continued until last year.
We talked to the lawyer who filed the suit on Friday.
This young man was shining the light on a apparently what is huge, huge, horrible wave of abuse and an opportunity for others to get out of the grips of the Bishop, said Attorney BJ Bernstein.
Three other men filed a lawsuit against Long, saying he used his spiritual authority to seduce them. A spokesman for Long said the preacher denies all the allegations.
The “Bishop” needs to go to prison and learn first hand what sex abuse is really all about.
Careful, careful now you are breaking the rules. The rule is it is okay to bash, slam and snarl at Palin, but you need to be kind, sweet and nice to Obama..otherwise you are a racist.
Someone posted on an earlier thread that in GA. the age of consent is 16.
It sure looks like there's something to these accusations, since there are at least 4 of them now. I hope the Elders are real Christians and throw the bum out if the accusations are true.
If the church just allowed these men to marry . . . . /s
No.
They are pretty shocking as it is.
In case it’s not obvious from this article, this “bishop” is not a Catholic bishop.
“The Bishop needs to go to prison and learn first hand what sex abuse is really all about.”
Just as soon as he’s found guilty of any wrong doing, I agree with you. But he should step down temporarily, effective immediately.
Hope? Not a chance in hell. This so called church is nothing more than a socialist recruiting tool. The rat running for governor was to speak at this “church” until these allegations came to light.Ole KING ROY will not speak at the “church” now.
I posted that connection a few days ago:

... with a link to the FR thread — where Candidate Obama stated:
“The Las Vegas dream is the American dream for our people,” said Sen. Barack Obama, (D) presidential candidate.
Very good.
If only Baptist preachers could marry, this wouldn’t happen.
You beat me to it!
Have you noticed that of all the video of Bishop Long, the media uses one with Pres. Geo. Bush in the lower right scene behind the pulpit.
Coincidence?? /s
Assuming the allegations are true there is no way a Christian church keeps the pastor. Time will tell what this assembly is a political gathering place, or a Christian Church.
The bible says we’re not to entertain accusations against elders except on the testimony of how many witnesses?
And why does it say that?
We have been hearing about this for some time and the news media here has kept a lid on it.The gene is out of the bottle now and they cant stop it.King ROY is distancing himself from this church now when before he was trying to get their vote.
Ummm, 2-3, right?
What are we up to now? 4?
Now, I do wonder why these young men are suing since it certainly sounds like they reaped plenty of goodies from their involvement (trips, cars, nice hotels, good eats, etc.). I'll be curious to see if any judge will even let the lawsuits proceed seeing as how nobody is claiming illegally forced actions. I can't help but think they might be seeing dollar signs based upon the Catholic Church's clerical abuse lawsuits. Greed is in play, I'm sure.
Where there's smoke, there's fire so my opinion is this guy is a big hypocrite and God is proving once again, "Be sure your sins will find you out.".
