Good British people are sick of being disenfranchised by their government and by loud mouthed PC groups, gays and Muslims. They needed the Popes’ vist more than they knew - even non-Catholics will be nodding yes at what the Pope had to say!

Nope. Haven't heard a word about any disturbances. I wouldn't think they would. First of all, European Muslims are totally different from Arab Muslims as they have lived side by side the Orthodox and RC church for centuries. Second, the RC has been pretty supportive of the Palestinian cause in the Middle East, due to having had its own share of hardships throughout it all. Christian Palestinians have been leaving in droves. I wouldn't think there’d be much uproar against the Pope.

The only reason the Middle East and the Wahhabi’s are at odds with the US is because of our support of Israel's right to exist which Americans have insisted upon much to the dismay of our politicians who would just as soon the whole thing would go away. It's not that Americans are anti-Palestinian, it's just that we're for “why can't we all just get along.”

Good British people are sick of being disenfranchised by their government and by loud mouthed PC groups, gays and Muslims.

... and the Church of England with its flim flam positions.

They needed the Popes’ vist more than they knew -

Oh they knew it. They came out in droves to welcome him, despite the the lack of information published on which roads he would be traveling.

Londoners anticipated the roads he would travel and lined them. EWTN provided live coverage of the entire trip. People lined up 4 deep in London as the Holy Father made his way to Hyde Park. At one point the popemobile stopped. The bullet proof window came down and the pope reached outside to hold and kiss a baby. Everywhere he went, people shoved their children out for him to embrace.

Had they bought into the media's suggestion that the pope protected pedophiles, they would have shielded their children from the 'monster'.

Those who seek truth, find it.

I watched it all on EWTN’s live coverage.

Me too! I even set my alarm for 4:30am on Sunday in order to watch the beatification mass, live. Some people are royal watchers; I am a pope addict ;-)

Those of us who enjoyed this coverage owe a great debt of gratitude to Mother Angelica. None of this would have been possible without her. One of my most favorite stories is that of the installation of the first satellite dish.

March 8, 1981 Just before the first satellite dish arrived, Sr. Regina had a vision in which she saw a black sky, a white satellite dish, and a flame emerging from the center. She heard God say, "This is my network, and it will glorify my Son." After the dish arrived a few weeks later, a photograph taken while it was installed reproduced Sr. Regina's vision: a black sky, the white dish, and a red flame emerging from its center. Professional photographers could not account for the red flame. Mother Angelica called it a miracle. Here is that image.

God is speaking through the Holy Father.

The pope is the Vicar of Christ on earth. In case you missed it ...

Dear friends, we are all aware of the challenges, the blessings, the disappointments and the signs of hope which have marked our ecumenical journey. Tonight we entrust all of these to the Lord, confident in his providence and the power of his grace. We know that the friendships we have forged, the dialogue which we have begun and the hope which guides us will provide strength and direction as we persevere on our common journey. At the same time, with evangelical realism, we must also recognize the challenges which confront us, not only along the path of Christian unity, but also in our task of proclaiming Christ in our day. Fidelity to the word of God, precisely because it is a true word, demands of us an obedience which leads us together to a deeper understanding of the Lord’s will, an obedience which must be free of intellectual conformism or facile accommodation to the spirit of the age. This is the word of encouragement which I wish to leave with you this evening, and I do so in fidelity to my ministry as the Bishop of Rome and the Successor of Saint Peter, charged with a particular care for the unity of Christ’s flock.

Pope Benedict's historic address at Westminster Abbey

**But it was Benedict’s personal warmth, gentleness, and the sheer rationality and sense of his message, that hit the cynical British media and political establishment right between the eyes.**

Britain was changed by Pope Benedict. Praises to him and the Holy Spirit!

On the phone today, Fr. Allan confirmed that the anti-pope crowd have badly lost the argument, and the sympathy of the British public with their months of shrill, fever-pitch attacks. The British people, he said, wanted to hear what the pope had to say.

“One of the most beautiful things has been to see an eighty-three year old man completely taking the wind out of the sails of the Peter Tatchells and the rest of the crowd,” Fr. Allan said.

The pope’s addresses, delivered barely above a whisper, made his detractors look “ridiculous, like children throwing their toys out of the pram because they couldn’t have their own way.” And today the pope’s opponents are left with little to say. “They’re nonplussed and confused” Fr. Allan said, “astonished.” “They didn’t expect people to respond as they have done.”

“They don’t understand why the British people listened to him. Why they wanted to see him. Everything the pope said is outside their mindset.”

I couldn't help smiling as I read this...:)

Thanks for the clarification. Point is, there’s nothing wrong with using the expression.

Of course my favorites — The Three Priests - had my heart soaring with the Benediction.

They are just wonderful!

Cockney rhyming slang is always interesting, continually amusing, but sometimes just downright confusing!
