By the way, the "Catholic catechetical tradition" Msgr Pope is talking about is verbiage from the Latin Vulgate

Gal 5:22 Fructus autem Spiritus est caritas, gaudium, pax, patientia, benignitas, bonitas, longanimitas, 23 mansuetudo, fides, modestia, continentia, castitas. Adversus hujusmodi non est lex.

Like aimee5291 said, thank you, Mark. I, too, needed to hear this. A great thanks also to Msgr. Pope, who writes such excellent columns about the faith we love and hold dear.

Ah!. I didn't know that. Indeed:

Galatians
Greek NT: Byzantine/Majority Text (2000) Latin: Vulgata Clementina English: Douay-Rheims
  Galatians 5
22 ο δε καρπος του πνευματος εστιν αγαπη χαρα ειρηνη μακροθυμια χρηστοτης αγαθωσυνη πιστις Fructus autem Spiritus est caritas, gaudium, pax, patientia, benignitas, bonitas, longanimitas, But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity,
23 πραοτης εγκρατεια κατα των τοιουτων ουκ εστιν νομος mansuetudo, fides, modestia, continentia, castitas. Adversus hujusmodi non est lex. Mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Against such there is no law.

That is such beautiful scripture, “Against such there is no law” — brings a smile to my face.
