This is what started to draw me into the web until I woke up, thanks to a few here on FR. He sounded so believable but yet something gnawed at me and I couldn't quite but my finger on it. Then when I listened to Brannon Howse it all fell into place. Now I have to try and wake up the rest of the misguided crowd.

I had a wake-up call myself and asked God for forgiveness over my lack of discernment. In the opening when he spoke of God's chosen people being Native Americans, my hinky meter shot up, but then I got carried away with the emotion of everything else.

My eyes are opened now.

dt you mentioned Brannon Howse, so I cheked on him

He mentions in his Sept 1 blog of his show

Topic One: A Mormon writer for the LDS Examiner declares a 200 year victory because Glenn Beck has succeeded in getting evangelical pastors to declare that Mormons are Christians. Is this not what we warned these pastors about? Did we not tell them this would happen?

http://www.worldviewweekend.com/brannon-howse/radio.php

This interested me so I looked up the Examiner...

Sure enough there was a mormon apologist atricle..

and GF it was written by none other than our old friend Greg West...who used to be among us here in FR..

Greg in his “Glenn Beck and the ‘Restoring Honor’ rally” article in the Examiner on August 28th, 2010 11:00 pm
siad some amazing things...

1. No matter what people tell you about Glenn Beck, he’s the real thing. He isn’t a put-on. He is a believer in God and in the American religion.

Nana: AMERICAN RELIGION ??? what American religion ??? Mormonism ?? What ?? Which ??? Beck is the real what ???

2. Beck’s program was very much a religious revival, not a political rally.

Nana: WOW And Greg’s mormon FRiends here told us it wasnt. Guess hey havent read Greg yet...

3. He called together patriotic Americans from all over the United States. For a moment, he was able to reach across boundaries of race and creed and bring people together—and together, they cried out to God for mercy, forgiveness, and his assistance.

Nana: Gosh I wonder if the 100s of 1000s of attenees all knew thats what they were doing ???

4. I never heard any of them tell their followers to shun sexual immorality, pornography, stealing, taking God’s name in vain, or to honor the Sabbath and keep it holy.

Nana: I dont recall Glenn Beck saying that either..

5. Glenn Beck, a rank-and-file elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,

Nana: WOOOOOO Nellie Glenn is a mormon ELDER ???? Did those Christian ministers on the platform with him know that ??? Did the attendees have that on their programs on Friday night or any time saturday ???

6. boldly invited Americans to come back to God.

Nana: It cant be asked enough.. Which god ???

7. He called upon them to exercise faith, hope, and love.

Nana: But what kind and faith in what ???

8. He called on them to practice charity and to tithe to their churches.

Nana: To save Conservatism and Democracy ??? This Republic was not founded on tithing, which is something Abraham did in the Old Testament and is a Mormon doctrinal requirement for salvation now. It was never a Christian doctrine, however christians do tithe. They are only reqired to “give”

9. He called on them to open their Bibles and to go back to their own churches.

Nana: Which church were they in ??? Is this “any church but the LDS is the wrong one (Joey Smith)

10. He challenged them with the words of Thomas Jefferson to “question with boldness the very existence of God.”

Nana: Another Joey Smithism. He went to the grove to check on God...supposedly

11. He urged them to put their families first and to set a good example.

Nana: FAMILIES FOREVER a mormon doctrine...

12. He asked parents to humble themselves and pray on their knees in front of their children.

Nana: There is no mention of Moses or Abraham praying on their knees. and Jesus never told us to do that. God will answer a prayer just as easily when the prayee is standing up on his or her face, driving the car, at a baseball game, in the shower...

13. It was a pure gospel message.

Nana: But not the Gospel of the LORD Jesus Christ of the Christ Bible. What is Beck considered now ??? The Billy Graham of the mormons ???

14. The rally’s focus was on the principles of faith, hope, and charity with a strong dose of ‘honoring the troops” thrown in for good measure.

Nana: What a mixure. What confusion...

15. During one symbolic moment, Beck introduced some 200 clergymen from various religions and denominations. He dubbed them the “Black-Robed Brigade,” a reference to Revolutionary War America, where the preachers proclaimed “No king but Jesus” from their pulpits.

Nana: However Beck added Moslem and Mormon religious leaders, neither of which were represented during the American revolution...50 years before mormonism was invented..

16. Beck acknowledged that there would be inevitable doctrinal differences between these pastors, but they could find unity in knowing that God was the answer.

Nana: I strongly doubt it..

17. I believe that Glenn Beck’s desire, in some measure, was to create a “King Benjamin moment.”

Nana: AH now the mormon “history” bit..I hope the attendees said “King Who” ??? There is no King Benjamin in the Christian Bible...

18. The Book of Mormon relates a landmark gathering of some of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas to hear the words of one King Benjamin. Benjamin declared principles of piety, humility, service, and faith to his people. He preached to them repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, who would be born in centuries to come, relative to his time. The result was a turning back to God by his audience that brought the Holy Spirit upon them. It was a moment of national renewal and personal recommitment to do good in God’s name. This was Beck’s template for the event that took place today.

Nana: And they said it wasnt about mormonism. LOL

19. Despite nearly two centuries of misrepresentation and religious envy by sectarian Christianity, Beck has achieved the visibility, prominence, and has had the time day after day, week after week, to speak openly and truly about his core beliefs.

Nana: Well this doesnt need me to explain that Greg thinks mormonism is now the religion de jour for America. that mormonism is now a creditable accepted part of the Christian family..except the Christians still dont believe it Greg.. At least not the Berean Christians (Brannon Howse)

20. The light bulb has been switched on after nearly two centuries! Every single member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes that a person must be “born again” and receive Jesus Christ as his Savior and Redeemer. Our holy books teach that salvation comes only in and through the atonement of Christ and that there is no other way a person can be saved. Those beliefs obligate us to do our best to keep God’s commandments and to follow the example of Jesus in doing good. Glenn Beck’s beliefs are mainstream Mormon beliefs. JOSEPH SMITH, THE cHURCH’S FOUNDER, WAS A CHRISTIAN PROPHET. He was an apostolic witness of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Nana: Greg your mormon doctrines and prophets say otherwise...and Joey Smith was there when Jesus arode from the dead ??? BTW Joey Smith HATED the Christians anbd Christianity Much of his early mormon doctrines were rants AGAINST Christianity, and his followers continued the rants...to the point of calling for the anialation of all who were non-mormon..

I got carried away with the emotion as well and I didn't really listen to his words too much. When the remarks about the Natives Americans was pointed out to me by Brannon House I re-listened to the audio tape of his speech and I was aghast at what he said.

I also had to ask forgiveness for my lack of discernment even though I knew to beware of Glenn Beck because of his Mormon beliefs. I've read and heard of many others who felt duped by the rally and wish now that they didn't attend. Let's hope the discernment spreads.

Thank you for your kind words and let's not forget each other and others who are expressing similar sentiments.

My eyes are opened now.

FREE KITTENS

A pretty little girl named Suzy was standing on the sidewalk in front of her home in Salt Lake City. Next to her was a basket containing a number of tiny creatures; in her hand was a sign announcing FREE KITTENS.

Suddenly a line of big black cars pulled up beside her. Out of the lead car stepped a tall, grinning man.

"Hi there little girl, I'm President Thomas Monson. What do you have in the basket?" he asked.

"Kittens," little Suzy said.

"How old are they?" asked Monson.

Suzy replied, "They're so young, their eyes aren't even open yet."

"And what kind of kittens are they?"

"Mormons," answered Suzy with a smile.

Thompson was delighted. As soon as he returned to his car, he called his PR chief and told him about the little girl and the kittens.

Recognizing the perfect photo op, the two men agreed that the president should return the next day; and in front of the assembled media, have the girl talk about her discerning kittens.

So the next day, Suzy was again standing on the sidewalk with her basket of "FREE KITTENS," when another motorcade pulled up, this time followed by vans from Deseret News, The Ensign magazine and KSL.

Cameras and audio equipment were quickly set up, then Thompson got out of his limo and walked over to little Suzy.

"Hello, again," he said, "I'd love it if you would tell all my friends out there what kind of kittens you're giving away."

"Yes sir," Suzy said. "They're Christians."

Taken by surprise, the Living Prophet® stammered, "But... but... yesterday, you told me they were MORMONS."

Little Suzy smiled and said, "I know. But today, they have their eyes open"
