Thank you for making my point so well vig. Incase you haven’t noticed, this is the RELIGION forum, a town hall setting where theology can be explored and debated.

Given your off the mark ad homenim, I guess that is the replacement for an inability to deal with theological differences and issues. So to enforce your version of censorship, the fall back is insults and name calling. Are you that insecure in your faith that that is all you can rely upon. Nice to have it so well exposed.

If Jesus is the final say of who is a Christian, then why did He command to go and make disciples of all nations? Why did the disciples expend their lives convincing men of the truth of Jesus? Why is most of the NT an apologetic against heresies and false teacher/ings? Oh Noes! Don’t say that Paul, that would be judgemental! I’ll be suprised if you provide any substantial answer to the above, but I’ll give you the chance anyway.

Why are you slamming moslems now? If one follows your definition of ‘Christian’ to its logical conclusion, moslems accept and talk about Jesus and ‘God’ too, so that makes them Christians as well. Or is your theology nuanced enough to see the difference?

BTW, this “TFC” has prayed side-by-side with men (and women) of other Christian denominations for this country. I was with the million+ on the mall with the PK gathering, inclusive of all orthodox Christian denominations. Funny thing happened - no grenades (probably dissapointed you). So your analogy doesn’t stick vig.

**It’s because of the OTHER edge on the two-edged sword. The lack of unity. Yes .. America has a lot of Christians .. an overwhelming majority .. but then .. way too many of them have THEIR OWN working definition of Jesus .. of Christianity.**

Boy, does this ring true. It’s very evident everywhere — even here on FR, as you well know.

Beck knows what the correct religion is. He is a baptized Catholic who is currently practicing Mormonism due to the influences of his wife. (Guess who wears the pants in that family? < sarcasm off

Beck can come back to the Catholic Church any time by sitting down and talking with a priest, thus leaving the Mormon beliefs behind.

I pray he does.

Same ole same ole, unsupported accusation and silence on the matter when challenged, with a flurry of unrelated hyperbole to try, repeat try, to hide the fact their words are devoid of fact.

V-man declared himself a Christian Fundamentalist yet has no issue be allied with a cult that slanders and desecrates his savior. We are not talking about just another religion like the Buddhist or the Jews but a living scam that presents itself as a better version of Christianity. The Buddhist don't end their meditations with”in Christ name” and tell everyone “hey we are the real Christians”

Being that we are very clearly called upon to defend the faith regardless of our internal differences that any “Christian” would knowingly condone such pretty much confines anyhting they say to the trash heap reserved for such things as Oprah Christianity and other such desecration.

That they attack fellow Christians that ARE actively defending the faith with empty accusations and personal insults just means they are graduates of the very same Oprah Winfey school of Theology...

Gal 5:12 I would they were even cut off (castrate themselves) which trouble you.

Paul was such a hate monger.

1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.
12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

***I say it sounds similar to some of the sentiments expressed by FReepers on the Beck threads as well.***

There is true religion and false religion.

I can work with Beck in the civil arena, but not when he trots out a religion that is just as wrong in it’s characterization of God as Islam.

If the person’s own public words support the contention at hand there is no slander.

Nice try but save your slimy LDS parlor tricks for the ignorant and gullible...

Thank you, I am free of the bondages of mormonism, the endless works, temple ceremonies, annointings, etc. because I am set free.

Promise Keepers is a fine organization. I've been to one of their smaller events. They didn't card or otherwise check credentials to be sure you were an "Orthodox Christian." Did they do it at the big event on the mall?

I've heard of the Christian Orthodox faith, but I've never heard of an Orthodox Christian. Is there a website somewhere to see if one qualifies as an Orthodox Christian?

Nonetheless, if you are saying Mormons are Unorthodox Christians in the sense that they have some beliefs quite different from a majority of the Christian denominations, then I'd have to agree with you. You've made at least as much progress as someone who stops using the N-word and calls black people Negros or something else less insulting, even if it is not what they prefer to be called.

And to answer your question, if a Muslim wants to fight on our side, I'd welcome them, just as I honor the Muslim hero on my home page who very well may have prevented 9-11 if Clinton's administration would have had the brains to utilize his services better,

Its the same reason that Christians across the theological spectrum got behind Glenn Beck's rally, even if they don't share everything in common with Glenn's specific brand.

Who gets to decide what is correct?

IIRC many of our ancestors came here to get away from others dictating their religion.
