A Chicago man says he's fighting charges of disorderly conduct for simply standing on a public sidewalk and praying.

Joseph Holland, a 25-year-old graduate student at Northwestern University, says he was standing still praying the rosary outside a Planned Parenthood facility in downtown Chicago July 3 when police arrested him for violating the city's new "Bubble Zone" ordinance.

The law, passed in October, states that a person cannot approach within 8 feet of another person without consent "for the purpose of passing a leaflet or handbill to, displaying a sign to, or engaging in oral protest, education or counseling" within 50 feet from any health care facility.

It also says a person cannot "by force or threat of force or by physical obstruction" intentionally interfere with any person entering or leaving any health care facility.

But Holland says he didn't approach or interfere with anyone.

Lawmakers will someday have to answer to the Living God for their stance on abortion.

Try it that way and watch how quickly the ACLU descends upon the scene...

He should have told them he was a Muslim praying for the destruction of America. The cops would have been afraid of being investigated by Internal Affairs for being bigots if they arrested him, and he’d have been a hero to Democrats everywhere.

The student arrested was merely exercising his right to practice his religion and to free speech. I’d like the lefties to show me where in The Constitution it mentions “bubble zones” where these rights may not be practiced.

“disorderly conduct” is the charge used by the police when you are not violating any law but they want to arrest you anyway. “disorderly conduct” is too vague to be the subject of a law, and so any arrest for “disorderly conduct” is invalid.

Censorship advances another step. The Left will brook no interference.

In the case of duplicate articles, the moderator might want to merge info... That is more the case on BREAKING NEWS threads...

The moderator could probably care less, but duplicate threads are discourages, anyone who posts is supposed to do searches by titles to see if the thread has been posted.

For example, if you did a title search on:

Praying Outside Clinic based on title, it should come up with at least two hits.

It seems that you care more than the Moderator? I just don’t understand how you got involved.
