Well, some stars like Amanda Bynes use technology like Twitter to tell the world they are retiring. Some stars like Kelsey Grammar announce the end of his marriage. But today Anne Rice became the first pop culture figure I know that decided to break up with Christians, and she did it using facebook.
On her official website she posted the following announcement via her facebook feed this afternoon:"I quit being a Christian. I'm out. In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control. I refuse to be anti-Democrat. I refuse to be anti-secular humanism. I refuse to be anti-science. I refuse to be anti-life.
In the name of ...Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian Amen.

Okay, I’ll bite. Who (or what) is Anne Rice? And why should I give a rat’s rear end what she does or doesn’t believe??

World biggest vampire promoter renounces Christianity?
Who could have seen it coming?
Anne, you're talented, smart and creative. I hope your eyes open up to see what is right there for you.

I refuse to be anti-secular humanism. I refuse to be anti-science. I refuse to be anti-life. If she thinks that's "being a Christian," she was never a Christian to begin with -- she just bought what the mainstream media SAYS ABOUT Christianity.
Deep, she's not.

It is amazing how success in the media world produces the automatic assumption that people care about your day to day preferences and changes in opinions and beliefs.

Since she clearly wants to offend a lot of people, I'll be offensive as well. Why do old women do the fake teeth thing but leave their hair looking like grandma Moses? It only highlights that her teeth are fake.
Was that offensive enough?

Anne Rice as written in recent years in defense of Christianity. She's highly conflicted in that her son that she adores, her only family, is homosexual. And she buys into the canard that those who would deny two homosexuals the rite of sacramental marriage "hate" gays.
She also is struggling with some mean diabetes.
So I don't hear a renunciation of Jesus Christ here, but of Chritianity and Christians.

Probably mental illness from years of being named “Howard Allen”
Anne Rice (born Howard Allen O’Brien on October 4, 1941) is a best-selling American author of gothic, erotic, and religious-themed books from New Orleans, Louisiana. She was married to poet and painter Stan Rice for 41 years until his death from cancer in 2002. Her books have sold nearly 100 million copies, making her one of the most widely read authors in modern history.[2][3][4][5]
Hmmm...name another girl who was given a boy’s name . . . how’d she turn out?
