Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val
O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being loved, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being honored, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being praised, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred to others, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being consulted, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being approved, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being despised, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of suffering rebukes, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being calumniated, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being forgotten, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being ridiculed, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being wronged, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being suspected, Deliver me, Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease,Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I unnoticed, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I,
provided that I may become
as holy as I should, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
Dominicus Gabriel Mariae
O most gracious Lord Jesus:
To redeem an undeserving humanity
You gave up everything you had.
In your mercy, grant us the grace
of despising all things but you
and your love
That we may know the joy
you brought to us
through your dolorous Passion
and Death,
Who live and reign in might and bliss
with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
One God, in everlasting glory.
One of the saints suggested I invite you to join us. Please consider yourself/selves invited.
Mind you, I think we should be praying for you. I would think moderating Xtian threads would provide a great temptation to become a Buddhist — or at least to join an order where speech is forbidden.
Wow! What a recommendation -- LOL!
Sure, put me on!
At least, nothing interesting that she’ll detail for her mother ;-).
Amen to that — despite all the vicious fights, it’s good to pray with our fellow believers in Christ and also to pray for our brethren in the Judaic faith and our fellow God’s creatures among Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Sikhs
Thank you - I look forward to participating. Which Cardinal wrote that litany?
Or St. Francis. After all, that is his prayer.
prayer bump
Since Independence Day occurs within this Novena, my prayers will include the USA, and a litany of humility for its leaders, since it was indeed founded upon the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Thank you Mad Dawg for this thread.
I was actually surprised when I found FR had a religion forum and Religion Moderator (poor guy/gal).
Anyway, many of the threads lately have descended into incendiary commentary of which I’m as guilty as others for getting sucked into.
FR should be a place where we can openly and cordially discuss faith however I strongly believe that we have more in common, core conservatism, than we might know.
Thank you again Mad Dawg for this virtual Sunday afternoon ice-cream social, prayer meeting, etc..

I think this is refreshing and needed after our sparring on the RF threads.
Christ would approve.
A fact I wish were more widely known.

Thanks for the ping....I had forgotten already.
About to take the three children out in public. That’s usually a humbling experience......

Ha! Ha! Love ya, Quix.
Can’t think of anything to say but the one thing that’s so BASIC: Brothers And Sisters In Christ. Amen!

Being Spanish, he probably needed lots of help in the humility department.
I appreciate the prayers.
