Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val
O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being loved, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being honored, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being praised, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred to others, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being consulted, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being approved, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being despised, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of suffering rebukes, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being calumniated, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being forgotten, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being ridiculed, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being wronged, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being suspected, Deliver me, Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease,Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I unnoticed, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I,
provided that I may become
as holy as I should, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
Dominicus Gabriel Mariae
O most gracious Lord Jesus:
To redeem an undeserving humanity
You gave up everything you had.
In your mercy, grant us the grace
of despising all things but you
and your love
That we may know the joy
you brought to us
through your dolorous Passion
and Death,
Who live and reign in might and bliss
with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
One God, in everlasting glory.
BEAUTIFUL.
Sad to hear of your illness.
Prayers and hugs.
It is a less grand and pretentious paganism she affirms. I don’t guess she would even use the word.
She rightly sees, but wrongly understands, the beauty in dingle and dell. And nominal Christianity has let her down horribly. She has Job’s complaint to a certain degree, and needs prayers, love, and exhortation more than anything else.
All y’all. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Ah, I see.
We’re all holding together ... a little snow, a little sneezing, please wash your hands. What do you mean we’re out of wine?
I went out a few minutes ago to unplug our string of Christmas lights and found Yellow Cat, the neighborhood rounder, on the doormat in a ball. “Yeeeeoooowwwrrrrr!” he says, and I felt bad and put some cat food on a napkin for him. Next time I opened the door he had moved on.
Praying for your health and hoping that you had a nonetheless peaceful Christmas day.
That’s absolutely beautiful. It would make a great Christmas card sentiment. I’d put the first two paragraphs on the front and the third on the inside.
Thanks, all. Stomach coming back to more or less nominal.
Yeah, the ol’ Mizris and I have pretty much decided we’re going to use it somehow next Xmastide.

Is it blowing up again? Oh dear. The Enemy must have whatever passes for joy in so foul a heart.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Today's Biblical Reflection is Many Members in One Body.
The Church of Jerusalem in the Acts of the Apostles is the model of the unity we seek today. As such, it reminds us that prayer for Christian unity cannot be for uniformity, because unity from the beginning has been characterized by rich diversity. The Church of Jerusalem is the model or icon of unity in diversity.
Prayer
God, from whom all life flows in its rich diversity, you call your Church as the Body of Christ to be united in love. May we learn more deeply our unity in diversity, and strive to work together to preach, and build up the Kingdom of your abundant love to all, while accompanying each other in each place, and in all places. May we always be mindful of Christ as the source of our life together. We pray in the unity of the Spirit. Amen.
Nice. Thanks.
Lord, as we approach the celebration of Lent we ask your help.
Help us to pray with new fervor.
Help us to give alms generously.
Help us to fast with a happy heart and a smile on our face.
And lastly, Lord, please help us to keep our silence and not boast!
Amen!
A Lenten ping for this prayer thread.
Prayer for Preparation for Mass Prayer of St. Ambrose Amen.
Lord, Jesus Christ, I approach your banquet table in fear and trembling, for I am a sinner, and dare not rely on my own worth but only on your goodness and mercy. I am defiled by many sins in body and soul, and by my unguarded thoughts and words. Gracious God of majesty and awe, I seek your protection, I look for your healing, poor troubled sinner that I am, I appeal to you, the fountain of all mercy. I cannot bear your judgment, but I trust in your salvation. Lord, I show my wounds to you and uncover my shame before you. I know my sins are many and great, and they fill me with fear, but I hope in your mercies, for they cannot be numbered. Lord Jesus Christ, eternal King, God and man, crucified for mankind, look upon me with mercy and hear my prayer, for I trust in you. Have mercy on me, full of sorrow and sin, for the depth of your compassion never ends. Praise to you, saving sacrifice, offered on the wood of the cross for me and for all mankind. Praise to the noble and precious blood, flowing from the wounds of my crucified Lord Jesus Christ and washing away the sins of the whole world. Remember, Lord, your creature, whom you have redeemed with your blood. I repent my sins, and I long to put right what I have done. Merciful Father, take away all my offenses and sins; purify me in body and soul, and make me worthy to taste the holy of holies. May your body and blood, which I intend to receive, although I am unworthy, be for me the remission of my sins, the washing away of my guilt, the end of my evil thoughts, and the rebirth of my better instincts. May it incite me to do the works pleasing to you and profitable to my health in body and soul, and be a firm defense against the wiles of my enemies.
Later on I’ll put up Aquinas’s prayers before and after Mass.
Thank you and God Bless. Prayers being said.
Praying in union with others for a blessed Lenten season, in Christ’s Holy Name.
Excellent!! Thanks for the ping. And a delayed thanks for the thread, Mad Dawg.
This is:
O Lord and Master of my life, give me not the spirit of sloth, idle curiosity, lust for power and idle talk. [Full prostration]
But grant unto me, Thy servant, a spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love.[Full prostration]
Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see mine own faults and not to judge my brother. For blessed art Thou unto the ages of ages. Amen.[Full prostration]
That is a beautiful prayer.
Sorry I can’t do the full prostration, though. I’d never be able to get up off the floor.
