New heaven and a new earth (21:1)
Posted on 06/29/2010 9:35:03 AM PDT by Ancient Drive
Rev 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

does this mean the sea will no longer exist? how would the climate change if the entire earth were just rivers and lakes with no seas? would it be a giant rain forest?

If there is no death, will there still be reproduction?

I believe reproduction is part of the plan. once we are purified and fill the earth according to God’s plan, we may have to populate other planets. There are billions of star systems out there.

It will be a ‘new’ heaven and earth, and there are things we aren’t meant to know now.

Probably not since Jesus said there will be no marriage in Heaven.

Who knows? The details of prophecy are often less relevant than many seem to think. What will be will be.
Just ask Him when you get there.

I think you have about as much of a chance of figuring out the praxis of the new heavens (so much for those billions of star systems out there now) and new earth as a day old zygote does of predicting the pleasures of Port Salut cheese, symphonic music, and building a multinational business.

.
The offsprings will all be purified at birth? Then Jesus as Saviour will be superfluous. I don’t think so.

Like many of the illustrations in Revelations, symbolism is involved. The “sea” is symbolic of peoples and nations of people.

Didn’t people reproduce before there were marriages?

Agreed. The word picture I was given was:

"Didnt people reproduce before there were marriages?"
No. The first child ever (Cain) came after the marriage of Adam and Eve. Thus no reproduction ever occured prior to the institution of marriage. Also, sex outside marriage is a sin and there will be no sin in Heaven. Thus, since we know there is no marriage in Heaven there would have to be a whole new method of reproduction introduced for there to be reproduction in Heaven.

Like many of the illustrations in Revelations, symbolism is involved. The sea is symbolic of peoples and nations of people.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
The sea is symbolic of chaos ... and it will be done away with.
