Priest charged in sex assault at rest stop

A Walpole priest was charged yesterday with sexually assaulting a man he’d followed into the woods at a Canton rest stop, police said.

The Rev. Emile R. “Mike” Boutin, 46, a youth pastor at Blessed Sacrament in Walpole, pleaded not guilty to indecent assault and battery at his arraignment in Stoughton District Court, said Norfolk District Attorney spokesman David Traub.

Boutin, ordained in 1991, was ordered to “refrain from public ministry” pending the outcome of his criminal case, said Terrence Donilon, a spokesman for the Archdiocese of Boston.

At about 8:30 a.m. yesterday, a 21-year-old man told police he pulled into the Park & Ride lot off Route 138 in Canton and walked into the woods to urinate.

Shortly after noticing a “No Trespassing” sign, the man turned and spotted a man behind him. Suddenly, the other man sexually assaulted the 21-year-old through his shorts, police said.

The victim ran back to his car, saw his assailant get into a green Toyota sedan, and took down the license plate number, police said. The man reported the incident to state police, who traced the car to Walpole, where local police found the car and Boutin, sweating heavily, standing in the driveway of an address belonging to Blessed Sacrament.

Some fruit grabs me in the woods, and sure the Walpole PD would have to come to the scene, to retrieve the body.

Let's hope they're making sure he refrains from *private* ministry too!

Obama's "Safe School Czar" Kevin
"use a condom" Jennings

From the Washington Times...

EDITORIAL: At the president's pleasure
'Safe school czar' encouraged child sex with an older man
September 28, 2009

A teacher was told by a 15-year-old high school sophomore that he was having homosexual sex with an "older man." At the very least, statutory rape occurred. Fox News reported that the teacher violated a state law requiring that he report the abuse. That former teacher, Kevin Jennings, is President Obama's "safe school czar". ..."

According to Mr. Jennings' own description in a new audiotape discovered by Fox News, the 15-year-old boy met the "older man" in a "bus station bathroom" and was taken to the older man's home that night...".

On the tape, Mr. Jennings recollected that he told the student to make sure "to use a condom" when he was with the older man. That he actively encouraged the relationship is reinforced by Mr. Jennings' own description in his 1994 book, "One Teacher in 10." In that account, the teacher boasts how he allayed the student's concerns about the relationship to such a degree that the 15-year-old "left my office with a smile on his face that I would see every time I saw him on the campus for the next two years, until he graduated." ...

New screening process, zero tolerance, weed out potential offenders, yada, yada, yada...

More "yada, yada, yada" from the Sarge, in fact.

How do you imagine a "new screening process" would have weeded out this individual? He's 46. He's likely been ordained for somewhere in the region of 15-20 years. That's relevant to a "new screening process" how exactly???

He's one of the old school lavender gang who wasn't picked up in the first round-up circa 2002, not some recent ordinand who slipped through the system.

"Zero tolerance"?? He's been removed from ministry.

Anything else?

He's been removed from ministry.

WRONG.

He is to "refrain from public ministry" but hasn't been REMOVED. You know, like Cardinal Law and Mahony. If this were a Protestant church the guy would have been immediately REMOVED.

Are you sure it wasn't McGreevey?

He's a man of the cloth too and he knows his way around tollway rest stops!

Not sure how the "new screening process" have had much influence on someone ordained in 1991.

On a side note, is it common to not have indoor plumbing at rest stops out east? Why is this kid wandering into the woods to take a leak and how on earth can you be assaulted "through" shorts?? Sounds like a gay liaison gone bad. Glad the priest has been exposed, it's the first step on his road to repentance. Hope the young man, if truly innocent can forgive his attacker, if not so innocent, I hope he truns his life around too.

My son, a Youth Pastor, wrote a blog about his 'googling' for info and materials for Youth Pastors. To his shock and dismay, what the results brought were more stories like this, than materials for use in his ministry.

Sad

The priest should be defrocked and thrown in jail. But this guy did not know that area.

"Shortly after noticing a “No Trespassing” sign, the man turned and spotted a man behind him. Suddenly, the other man sexually assaulted the 21-year-old through his shorts, police said."

Does not ring true! Where is his zipper. He had his pants down to urinate! He is a man! Some people are full of it. It sounds like he was one of them. Then had a hissy fit about the act.

I could be wrong. But that sounds bizarre from the get-go.

I don't believe that but if it's true, that would be a shame.

Does due process not apply in Protestant churches? Is simply being charged enough to get someone their pink slip? Is there no difference between a charge and a conviction? Due process applies with respect to Church law just as it does in civil law. Shocking, no?

Why not just round up all Catholic priests. There's bound to be a few bad apples in there. You could simply bypass the whole charge/trial/conviction/acquittal process.

The correct course of action has been taken in this matter. The incident is still under investigation and while that takes its course he will no longer engage in ministry, which is exactly what I meant.

Now back to the matter which you raised.

Anyone care to comment on the Sarge's bold assertion that simply being charged is enough to get someone the boot from a Protestant Church?

I suspect it's complete tripe like most of the shtick he tosses around.

The priest should be defrocked and thrown in jail.

Wishful thinking, that's what non-Catholic faiths do.

If Bernard Law were still in Boston he would be promoted and then moved to another parish.
