To some, pope's plea for forgiveness falls short

When Pope Benedict XVI announced the "Year of the Priest" that concluded Friday, he probably didn't have in mind the sort of year he got.

He acknowledged as much in a closing Mass, telling more than 10,000 assembled priests in St. Peter's Square that "in the very year of joy for the sacrament of the priesthood, the sins of priests came to light." ...

The problem is that Rome teaches its priests are "another Christ." Therefore, they are "entitled."

Watch the award-winning documentary now on DVD and Netflix...

Thanks.

No apology.

Ratzinger blames everyone but the real perpetrators.

No changes to the status quo.

Just more finger-pointing away from Rome onto everyone else.

They just make stuff up. That kind of argumentation is taught to them. When you have no defense; when you're caught read-handed -- deny, deny, deny.

No wonder 54% pf American Roman Catholics voted for Obama. They think alike.

Know what might keep priests from banging little boys? Allowing priests to marry. Just a thought.

I am not a Catholic, and I have never been convinced that priests should not marry. But it's their religion and they can make whatever rules they want.

However, I see no connection between "banging little boys" and "allowing priests to marry".

Are you married? If you were not married, would you want to "bang little boys"?

Seriously, your post makes no sense, unless you meant allowing priests to engage in "gay marriage" with little boys. A better response would be this: "Know what might keep priests from banging little boys? Weeding out homosexuals from the seminaries. Just a thought".

There have been literally THOUSANDS of cases of sexual sodomy by priests ..I know of 3 PERSONALLY that were never litigated . Two of the priests (one an author of "religious story books for children") and the other his "special friend in sin... and one that almost caused the death by suicide of a young man

The difference is that your church condones and has hidden it..Protestants call the cops..

link

. "Raping little boys in Church, sodomizing children, and you're now just beginning to uncover those sins of the fathers, no pun intended, but yes fathers yours not mine. 10,667 cases of sexual abuse from 1950 through 2002 in the Catholic Church alone, and over $840,000,000.00 have been paid out since the 1950s."".
"Ireland is one of the hardest hit Catholic countries, with some 13,000 known victims of clerical abuse." Link

Please show me 10,000 boys abused by ministers here in the USA let alone the world in the last 50 years

When there is no defense, fall back on blaming everyone else.

So now its the mullahs?

And careless campers start forest fires. And old people steal batteries.

Let's make a list of every sin anyone has ever committed.

And only THEN will we discuss the Roman Catholic pederast priest sex abuse scandal.

"POPE ASKS GOD FOR FORGIVENESS BUT OFFERS NO APOLOGY ON PRIEST ABUSE"

Then God will NOT hear the asking of forgiveness. The bible has clearly stated Satan will take over the church. The inaction's of the ENTIRE Catholic religion in regards to the pedophile priests speaks volumes.

The whole point of forgiveness, IMHO, is not only to be sorry for it, but to fix it.....give retribution to those sheep who have suffered among the evil, whatever is humanly possible.

Heck, just acknowledging they messed up, knew what was going on but instead decided to protect themselves instead of their flock is what they SHOULD be doing.

I am sorry to offend the catholics here, but I think the catholic church is nothing more than a legal mafia.

I know of one “”inappropriately touching “ with a preteen girl incident at a church I went to.. the pastor got up, announced to the church why the “worship leader” was no longer there and he told us the case had been turned over to police..

Simple.. clear lines drawn

Are you aware of the stringent pre-screening now done in seminaries. At least a two day psche exam for starters.

The problem is what are these tests screening for? We have no evidence there are less pederasts in the priesthood now than for centuries before.

Rome is trying to put a band-aid on its finger when its lungs have failed. The problem will not be solved through better "screening." The problem will only be solved when Rome deletes its foul doctrine of believing priests are "another Christ."

"It’s not the Church’s job to apologize, but each priest accused of abuse should."

Bull. The church represents these pedophile priests. How many times were these pervs told on and just "moved" to another church to inflict the abuse on others.

They should all go down.

Saying “the dvil made them do it “ used to be a punch line in a bad joke, not a legitimate excuse from a “religious leader”

ROTFLOL!

How far we've come. Not.

"It's silly for one person to apologize for something another person did."

Silly, really? These "other persons" who BOW DOWN to the pope just to kiss his damn ring (disgusting)? The "leader" of these pervs should NOT apologize and make amends?

They all knew what was happening and instead of protecting God's children, they just moved them around.....spreading their perverted disease.

Shame on ALL of them.

Anyone who professes a belief and faith in Christ is part of the Church. Are you saying I should apologize too?

These men KNEW the church would never out them..

That's because 'those men' ARE the Church...

You can be sure that those abusers of yesteryear are the bishops, cardinals and popes of today...

Abolish the whole unscriptural priest edifice and return to the Scriptural model. No special titles and fancy garb, no ring kissing and bowing and such, chuck it all and follow Christ’s commandments.

Look at all the church’s now accepting gay priests. ANY church that allows such a thing should be banished to Satan and forgotten/ignored.

The bible states Satan will take over the church of God......and that bastard has done a GREAT job of it.

It doesn't take advanced degrees in theology or psychology to understand that a vocation which is closed to women, which is only populated by other "celibate" men, will always attract homosexuals and other men with an unhealthy disposition toward sexuality, family, children and women.

The dirty little secret is that this is the very reason why this doctrine even exists. Celibacy was never a requirement of the early church and it wasn't until the middle ages that Rome declared it law.

Wonder why?

Amen.

Although I don't believe Satan will take over God's church. The gates of hell shall not prevail against it. But the truth of Christ risen is found in a variety of churches, as they are faithful to the word of God.

But as the Presbyterian Westminster Confession of Faith reminds us, there will always be a church on earth in which to worship the Triune God alone.

"Anyone who professes a belief and faith in Christ is part of the Church. Are you saying I should apologize too?"

Yes, in a way. We all should....especially if you belong to a religion that has these disgusting pervs within. If you still belong to a church that has had or has a pedophile, you should leave immediately.

That perverted church now belongs to Satan. If you stay, you belong to "it" as well.

By the way "Anyone who professes a belief and faith in Christ is part of the Church."......depends on what "church" you are speaking of.

The Lord warned us of false prophets. I do believe these "false prophets" belong to many many churches. I'm not saying your church is one....but I do believe we ALL have to pray, if not for yourself, then others who have committed such sin.

We're not part of your Church...Just because they convinced you to believe this nonsense doesn't mean there's any truth to it...
