When my husband and I went to Mass last evening, unfortunately our parish priest was ill, so a guest priest said Mass.
When he read the Gospel, he changed He to she. Later the substitute priest said we really don't know if the Holy Spirit is a he or a she.
Later he said, wouldn't the altar girl make a good priest some day, even though the Vatican said women priests is a closed issue. It won't happen.
There were a few other things, but those were the things that bothered me the most.
Here is the gospel, where he changed He to she:
"Jesus said to his disciples: "I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you."
Rudy never did, and even under Cardinal Egan's time at St Patrick's this remained in affect.
Heck Cardinal O'Connor had to be dead for the Clinton's to get into St Patricks.
Which is why inflected languages with gender, (ie, Greek and Hebrew), refer to God as male. God the Father.
Looks like the anti catholics have found the thread.
Exactly so and in good part why so many of us are outraged over this kind of ridiculousness, especially from someone who seemingly attended Seminary, learned his own Latin, Greek, Hebrew, etal.
Nothing sez “Bite me” quite like standing up in a service, yelling “Heretic” and storming out.
A few years back, I accompanied our youth to a servanthood week in D.C., where we worked at Martha’s Table all week. We attended worship that Sunday at the National Cathedral. It happened to be Pentecost that Sunday and the priest spoke of the Holy Spirit as she. When I asked about it, my pastor said that the Greek could be translated that way, with the Holy Spirit being feminine. I wonder if any of the pastors on board here would care to comment....
Emailed the Bishops office. After an exchange of emails they seemed to conclude they he will not be substituting again. I gave up pressing the issue when I was having to say...”hello morons...there is a extremely good chance you have a homosexual in the Church!”
To top this all off we lost our last priest to homosexual allegations which were proven true. But he was not as flamboyant as the substitute.
You wrote:
“After all, when men like this goofball stands up as “alter christus” and claims to be an intermediary between God and man, then call the Holy Spirit a woman and look longingly at the little altar girl, this is one ordained by headquarters, not you.”
What evidence do you have that he “look longingly at the little altar girl”?
“Clothed in his garb of distinction, performing the Mass, giving some wafer & wine to once again openly crucify the Son of Glory...”
Christ can’t be crucified again in the Mass.
Stooping to completely things up like this says quite a bit about a poster.
“Actually as I understand it, Cardinal O’Connor let Rudy and all other politicians who were pro choicers know that they should NOT come up to receive the Blessed Sacrament.”
It sounds familiar to me, but I can’t remember if it was Cardinal O’Connor or Cardinal Eagan, but I like it, and it should always be done.
Was he a Methodist?
“Emailed the Bishops office. After an exchange of emails they seemed to conclude they he will not be substituting again.”
I hope we get the same results.
Found it and decided to relieve themselves in it apparently.
Yes, he should be reported. Too bad you didn’t bring rotten tomatoes to Mass. I have heard of parishioners standing and turning their backs to priests who are offensive, but do not have to deal with this. uck. Guy should be an Episcopalian.
That sounds good.
Calling sin what it is!
“I wonder if any of the pastors on board here would care to comment....”
Do we have any Catholic clerics who are FReepers. If so, I hope someone will inform them about this thread by Freep Mail.
Besides your Bishop, also write a letter (or call) to the Apostolic Nuncio, Pietro Sambi. Request that he advise the Pope that this heretic is still running around misleading the faithful:
Archbishop Pietro Sambi
Type of Jurisdiction: Nunciature
Elevated: 10 January 1984
Diplomatic Post
Country: United States of America
Mailing Address: 3339 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W, Washington, DC, USA
Telephone: (202)333-7121
Fax: 337-4036
They are agenda-driven and their agenda is their “witness”.
Contacting Raymond is also a good idea!
But if the Bishop’s office doesn’t want to investigate a possible homosexual priest, then they deserve these abuse cases. It’s really tragic and infuriating!
