When my husband and I went to Mass last evening, unfortunately our parish priest was ill, so a guest priest said Mass.
When he read the Gospel, he changed He to she. Later the substitute priest said we really don't know if the Holy Spirit is a he or a she.
Later he said, wouldn't the altar girl make a good priest some day, even though the Vatican said women priests is a closed issue. It won't happen.
There were a few other things, but those were the things that bothered me the most.
Here is the gospel, where he changed He to she:
"Jesus said to his disciples: "I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you."
And it had this one line -- which takes in your unorthodox priest today.
Yet the Bible insists, and the Catholic Church along with it, that there is only one God. And that God is not an it, some impersonal force, but a Him, more truly personal than any of us. In fact He is so personal, that from all eternity He is interpersonalthree persons in perfect union of will and activity, so perfect that they are truly One God, not three.
The United Methodists did this years ago was why I quit the church.
I don’t believe a word you wrote. Why don’t you give his name, and the name and location of his parish if this is true?
Believe me the liberation theologians are out there,
That's your privilege and choice. I don't buy into when and where it happened, the name of the priest, the location of the church, and the name of his parish.
kost, I very much believe Sun
That's your privilege and choice. I don't buy into ancedotal tales. Let's have all the facts: when and where it happened, the name of the priest, the location of the church, and the name of his parish.
No one wants to cause scandal in their parish if they can avoid it.
I was a protestant. I have always loved the Church, even before I was in communion with her.
There’s simply no reason to hate the Church and what she stands for, especially not by those who claim to be fellow protestants.
Now that was funny
It’s really a silly argument, and one put forth by English speaking people only. God is a man, more truly man than we ourselves are shadow and in imitation of Him.
For we are made in his image, not he in ours.
My husband is going to call the Bishop’s office to report it.

Excellent. The Church is in need of a big purging.
Good! he should not be aloowed to preach what is contrary to doctrine. If he wants to do that he should covert to another religion.
I suggest you attend the Mass this heretic is saying and then get up and walk out in a very obvious way when he says something like this. Perhaps others will follow.
Good answer!
I think it's a little too late for that. You don't think it was scandalous for a priest to refer to the Holy Spirit as a "she?" Okay, then, Sun is more than welcome to send me the name of the priest and his parish via PM. I won't divulge it publicly.
Thanks for the link, and I will save it for future reference. Again, from the link, this snip:
“and even then-Roman Catholic Cardinal of New York John OConnor.”

If we are to judge a person by their enemies, and I do, it shows what a good man Cardinal O’Connor is when the Clinton crime couple is his enemy.
Thank you.
I think he deserves the chance to address the issue, although I would also report the event to the Bishop.
