The lawsuit claimed Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church knew former employee Gregory Starkey was behaving inappropriately with young girls in the choir program, and that the church was negligent in that it did not warn anyone about him....What started in 1966 with 116 charter members and a budget of $44,000, the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church is one of the largest in San Diego County. According to the lawsuit, Starkey joined the church staff in 2000 at age 18....the suit claimed the church was aware of Starkey's misconduct with a 15-year-old girl in 2000 and was fired. However, he was subsequently rehired later on....In 2009, Starkey was charged with unlawful sexual conduct and is now a registered sex offender. As you might have guessed, RBCPC is affiliated with the PC(USA)....

More evidence the org has wandered away from the truth. Likely not believers, but needing the respectability of a “church” front.

Why are these men being rehired?
Yes, there is forgiveness in Christ, but to protect the body — one should no longer be allowed to be a pastor or priest after this sort of evil. The Bible’s pretty clear about the sort of character required for an overseer.

No surprise it is PCUSA ...Our PCA just disciplined an elder ( now former elder) for writing an article that was published in the local paper that was pro gay marriage..
I can not even imagine them hiring someone like this back.. just would not happen.

Of course the distinction here is that in the PCA, OPC, BPC and a few select others, they will go to jail and not be moved to other Presbyteries.

I wonder what he was hired to do at a church at the age of 18. Hopefully no leadership position.
