What’s this? Mormons are required to fast on Sunday?

As with almost everything else mormon, the act of fasting is to be done in a certain manner at a certain time and costs money.

Fast Sunday

The Church designates one Sunday each month, usually the first Sunday, as a day of fasting. Proper observance of fast Sunday includes going without food and drink for two consecutive meals, attending fast and testimony meeting, and giving a fast offering to help care for those in need.

A fast offering should be at least the value of the two meals not eaten. When possible, we should be generous and give much more than this amount.

In addition to observing the fast days set aside by Church leaders, we can fast on any other day, according to our needs and the needs of others. However, we should not fast too frequently or for excessive periods of time.

So which is it ???

The mormon corporation wants to strong arm the members for the amount of the meals ???

Or more than the amount of the meals ???

Is there a list of restuarants andf menu items ythat the members must send in the value of ???

Must it be the equivilance of two meals of steak from a 5 star restuarant for all the members of their family ...

regards of the fact they can only afford to eat hotdogs at home any other time...

or can it be the price of a box of generic corn flakes and milk for a skipped breakfast ???

Scratch that last one...

only an apostate would think of that..

Well i hope that means the needy families get to spend that money on themselves instead of sending it to the overpaid millionaire pastors of the mormon corporation ...

Isn’t fasting supposed to be something one does in private, and only between God and that person?

You forgot the part where the Deacons get to drive all over town to collect the Fast Offerings on Fast Sunday.

The 12 year olds go knocking on the doors of active and non-actives to collect and also solicit offerings.

In our area, parents get to drive them around if they have a route that is spread out geographically or they pair up with one of their leaders.

Interesting to note, that the BSA (which the LdS are a large Chartering group) requires that no Scout be alone with an adult. Youth Protection in the BSA, yet it’s presumed that because the boy is with a LdS priesthood member, they’ll be ok.
