Things Mormon women can do to reduce stress
Mormon Times ^ | May 5, 2010 | Sharon Haddock

PROVO, Utah -- The over-scheduled, over-involved and over-whelmed Mormon woman needs to do two things to de-stress, said two speakers at the recent Women's Conference at BYU: simply life and ask for God's help. "God placed us here to succeed," Sarah Westerberg said. "But mortality will cause stress. It's a natural byproduct."

SNIP

Her advice included...letting go of what cannot be controlled and ridding life of perfectionism.

She suggested adding two words to a working vocabulary: "Who cares?"

All these blessings, together with all the blessings appertaining unto the new and everlasting covenant, I seal upon you by virtue of the holy priesthood, through your faithfulness, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Nice try, but you still have the mormon God standing there as a witness, not the recipient of the "committment".

The constant and continual practice of mormons making "committments" for God through the imaginary "priesthood" does NOT cause God to "honor" these so-called "committments" and "covenants"...

Remember how this "priesthood" came about.

"

In May of 1829 while translating the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith came across a reference to baptism. He discussed the matter with his scribe, Oliver Cowdery, and the two earnestly supplicated the Lord regarding the matter. Oliver wrote: “Our souls were drawn out in mighty prayer, to know how we might obtain the blessings of baptism and of the Holy Spirit. … We diligently sought for … the authority of the holy priesthood, and the power to administer in the same.” 6

In response to that “mighty prayer,” John the Baptist came, restoring the keys and powers of the Aaronic Priesthood, which our young men in this audience tonight have been given. A few weeks later Peter, James, and John returned to restore the keys and powers of the Melchizedek Priesthood, including the keys of the apostleship. Then when a temple had been built to which other heavenly messengers might come, there unfolded on April 3, 1836, a modern-day equivalent of that earlier Mount of Transfiguration, part of something President Hinckley once called the “Kirtland cascade” of revelation in which the Savior Himself, plus Moses, Elijah, and Elias, appeared in glory to the Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery and conferred keys and powers from their respective dispensations upon these men. That visit was then concluded with this thunderous declaration, “Therefore, the keys of this dispensation are committed into your hands.”

Now that’s interesting...

Why would Oliver and Joey Smith want “the authority of the holy priesthood” ???

“the blessings of baptism and of the Holy Spirit.” The baptism of the Holy Spirit comes from God and He gives the Holy Spirit to EVERYONE who asks...no need for any “holy priesthood” there

John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Luke 3:16

If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13

Joey Smith wanted to OWN god as though He were a commodity to be sold...

And look at what happened to someone in the Bible who did the same thing Joey Smith did..

When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.” Acts 8:18-23

If Joey Smith had bothered to open the Bible he hated he would have read..

I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is He who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ John 1:33

As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. Mark 1:10 (Look Ma, no hands)

When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of Truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me, John 15:26 (Straight from Jesus to me...no middle man)

But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. John 16:7 (Straight from jesus to me...no middle man)

Now He is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as He had promised, gave Him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today. Acts 2:33

Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. Acts 10:44 (Look Ma, no hands)

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from Heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them Acts 2:1-4 (Look Ma, no hands)

‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.
Matthew 19:4-6

This just MUST be mis-translated!

‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his WIVES, and the TWENTY-two will become one flesh’ So they are no longer TWENTY-THREE, but one. Therefore what the Holy Ghost has sealed, let NO doctrine (or law) of MAN separate.

That lasted all of 49 years until the US Government put GOD in His place!

We diligently sought for … the authority of the holy priesthood, and the power to administer in the same.”

When Philip invited the apostles to Samaria, to lay hands on the new believers so that they might receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:14-17), Simon, who had not given up his witchcraft, said he was willing to buy this spiritual power from Peter (8:9-11, 13, 18-19).

Peter said to him, "Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity"

(Acts 8:20-23).

Do you know thats as pagan as the temples in the Far east where they hyave stone idols and they put food and gifts around them so that the demonic spirits (heavenly messangers) will come

If you ask for or look for demonic messangers, they’ll come...

just as they came to the son of perdition Joey Smith and his dumb friends
