Catholic Word of the Day: DEFENDER OF THE FAITH, 03-30-10

Featured Term (selected at random):

DEFENDER OF THE FAITH

The title conferred on Henry VIII by Pope Leo X, in 1521, for the King's book Assertio Septem Sacramentorum . . . , which was a defense of the seven sacraments and the Sacrifice of the Mass against Martin Luther. The kings and queens of England still retain this title on their carriage and among their official titles.

All items in this dictionary are from Fr. John Hardon's Modern Catholic Dictionary, © Eternal Life. Used with permission.

TOPICS: Apologetics; Catholic; History; Theology
KEYWORDS: catholic; catholiclist; sacraments
And all along I thought that laity, priests, Bishops, Cardinals and Popes were the Defenders of the Faith.

LOL!

God can pretty much do it on His own.

Since Mother Mary is the patron saint of the Americas, I would suggest that we all start praying for her to intercede on our behalf to save our country and restore it to what it once was.

Amen to that!

Pray the Rosary!

Pray the Rosary.
Pray without ceasing.
