Nothing less than a complete apostasy from the Christian religion would warrant the establishment of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.History of the Church, Volume 1, p. XL
According to LDS Scripture, the Apostle John (D&C 7) and the three Nephites (3 Nephi 28) never died. So, how could Gospel authority have left the earth, needing restoration?
in the latter times some shall depart from the faith 1 Timothy 4:1
If only some would depart from the faith, how could a complete apostasy have occurred? Did Jesus fail to preserve His Church against the gates of hell?
I will build MY church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18
...that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once [for all time] delivered unto the saints. Jude 3
...but though we, or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:9
It not enough to deceive the LDS with Sleight of hand

Jesus said to Resty, “I am the Way, the Truth and the LIFE. No man or women comes to the Father except by me.”
Listen sweetie, the link goes where it is supposed to go. How is that a deception? I really want to know.
You can stop proving my point now. I think you made it.
Don’t you have a closed thread to babysit, resty? Getting bored over there?
Ok, everyone there has been some complaint that I intentional tried to deceive those looking at this thread. I did not. I just copied and pasted the link in my servers address line.
I am going to post again the link to the same page, just to be clear.

Sorry, I should have pinged you to #46 if you wish to change the link in my post.
thresd=thread...that’s what happens after a visit to the eye doc who puts those drops in your eyes....
The grave difficulty with this analysis is that the earliest churches had no idea that a few, rabid folks were creating a central authority in a "pope". The word does not appear in any literature of reasonable authority until the latter part of the third century. The term "bishop" was interchangeable with a "presbyter" or "elder" and represented a description of the men at local churches identified with teaching/leading gifts.
Rome remanufactured this into a self-serving central authority, clearly contested throughout the ages by many local churches. That they dominated the landscape by brute force no more establishes their legitimacy than Hitler established his legitimacy in Europe.
And, even your math discloses that something was amiss from 1000 ad and following. Obviously, many brave folks were finally finding the voice to speak truth into the teeth of the oppressive rule of Rome. They paid dearly for such courage.
It was not, however, primarily political rule that needed reforming (but you're welcome for the U.S.). It was the mistaken theology of the seven sacraments, the sacerdotalism, the marioloatry, the indulgences, pergatory, penance, and (pardon the pun) a whole host of other errors in the manner the RCC represented the process of salvation. Those errors continue to this day.
The reformation set out in public view the Scriptural truths that undeserving men/women are elected before the foundation of world (Eph. 1) and that salvation is not a self-determined process like a business transaction (not wages, Rom. 4) wherein I exchange belief/trust/confession/actions/behavior or anything else originating in my soul for my rescue. Rather, it is the grace of God, through His Holy Spirit blowing where He will to make men alive from the dead (Lazarus imagery). Men and women are gifted faith to turn from self and cast themselves on the mercy of God, recognizing that the shedding of the blood of Christ (a one-time time/space/historical event) is the only thing that cleanses a man from sin and clothes him in sufficent righteousness to see God. They then begin the pilgrimage of beginning to recogize their rescue and are compelled to good works.
All repetitious chanting, confessions of sin, resolutions of heart, ceremonial sacraments are both ineffective and borderline blasphemous with regard to solving the problem of sin. Rome cannot give this error up because it is part of her hold over the supplicants. Tragic, monstrous, demonic. We call on Rome to repent...if she can.
“Stupid is as stupid does.”
LOL
We have gone over this before. Please, do not post slights to yourself to me.
You are NOT “Mormon.org” your site is “4mormon.org”
Geez!
Its not my site.
See post #46.
Well, svcw...I guess that when you post a thread regarding “restoration” you will need to post something stating it is referring to mormonism, not to the Catholic church.
Sounds like Harry Reid.
