When Glenn Beck told listeners of his radio show on March 2 that they should "run as fast as you can" from any church that preached "social or economic justice" because those were code words for Communism and Nazism, he probably thought he was tweaking a few crunchy religious liberals who didn't listen to the show anyway. Instead he managed to outrage Christians in most mainline Protestant denominations, African-American congregations, Hispanic churches, and Catholics...

Arrogance, I don’t think so. You people have damned me to hell and the whole while you have talked about you being saved and it was nothing you did to save yourself. It was all grace.

So if it’s grace alone, what can I do to be saved?

I have read the Bible, several times, and I have investigated and what bothers you is that I am able to come to a different conclusion from you and that really bothers you a lot.

You throw a bunch of verses on the screen and say “Look, I am right and you are wrong,” but you don’t take the time to explain how these verses back up your beliefs. I can do the same thing also and then at the end say “I have tried to show you truth, but you have rejected Jesus. How terribly sad.” but it all reality, I haven’t done anything other than throw a bunch of verses up on the screen and then demanded that you interpret them the same way I do.

We have not "damned you to hell."

urroner, we are all damned. We all sin and fall short of the glory - all of us DESERVE hell. Those of us who rely upon Christ find salvation.

Some people cannot have faith that Christ has done the work - completed the job. They rely on their own works, ordinances and covenants to "complete" the work of the cross. That is NOT faith in Christ. That is faith in yourself.

How many Saved Christians have I met in my life who said that they were saved and that there was nothing they could do to stop them from being saved? But then again, your definition of “damned” might be a lot different from mine.

So, is it grace alone, or is it mostly grace and just a little bit of work?

Grace alone. If you are saved by grace, through faith which is not a work but a gift of God, then you will naturally do good to your fellow man in love - the love of God.

Your LDS man-made ordinances or “covenants” have nothing to do with love OR salvation. Christ did what mankind cannot. (I define salvation in the way LDS would define exaltation.)

i would be adding to Scripture if I did - I let the verses stand n their own - they need nothing from me - you refused to even look at the after having challenged me -

do I need to print each one out to demonstrate how tenuous your position is?... I mean I can if you want - but youll just reply with "thats their "tradition" when I begin quoting patriarch's and their commentaries.

You've neither demonstrated to me why you believe what you do - youve claimed to be from the same body catholic (little c) yet cite nothing from the Bible to substantiate your assertion, yet have audaciously thrust the burden of proof....Im not claiming to be mormon - you are claiming to be Christian, in spite of theological evidence to the contrary.

PS - several more readings from several different translations may help....I found it beneficial in preparing my sermons

One perspective acknowledges God as being powerful enough to convey his message through mere men....the mormon position limits God by limiting His influence upon men in their ability to convey the message.....despite the manuscript evidence to the contrary.
