Job 40:15-24 Behemoth
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. 16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. 17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. 18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron. 19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. 20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play. 21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens. 22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about. 23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. 24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares. http://www.answersincreation.org/job4041a.htm There is one certainty about Job 40-41 they are not dinosaurs that lived 6,000 years ago. With the possibilities presented, I leave it up to the reader to decide for themselves what the correct answer is. We probably wont know for certain until we get to heaven.
What do I believe? I lean toward the dinosaur theory. You may say, How can Bible writers, such as David in Psalm 74, write about a dinosaur if it lived 65 million years ago? This is simple. There were certainly dinosaur fossils available in Bible times.
They are in the rocks now, so they must have been in the rocks then. David, and others, probably saw these fossils, and wrote about them (see Paleontology Pioneers and Aboriginal Dinosaurs?
Do you agree with this theory?
No, just speculating. Not all languages would have a word for an elephant's trunk.
Satan is described as a *Serpent* in the garden...I had wondered why was he on earth in the first place and where were his angels that had already been cast out of heaven.
I don’t know if we can conclude *Dragons* and *Serpents* can have any meaning to the extinction of the (Dinosaur*)?
lol now thats a stretch, i’m sure i can name lots of things that move slowly in the wind, that can better describe an elephants tail. A cedar implies very large and thick.
I thought Argentinasaurus was the biggest??
It was from Job’s time, right? He was supposedly before even Abraham. Personally, I lean towards elephants, what with the “drinking up of the river”, “eating grass” and enjoying the shade. Sure sounds like them and it was around the same geographical area.
My bad.
The thing was back-donkeywards? Is that better?
Sounds like a giant Crock to me.
I know this is a Religion Forum and all, but the “force in the navel of HIS belly” maybe describing a huge male sex organ and his “the sinews of his stones (testicles?)”. A BIG, Bull African elephant, yep! He “moved” his tail like a cedar, doesn’t mean his tail was “like” a cedar.
This is fun!
I say we should decide this issue concerning the scientific basis on a vote of journalists and climate scientists, so that we can settle this science and stop all contradictory conclusions once and for all.
Roll call vote...Gore? Nay. Obama? Nay...
Some interesting Spirtual food for thought is:
Maybe SATAN created Dinos?
The Bible gives a wonderful illustration of the hopeless nature of Satan’s insurrection. When he made his move, God cast him out of heaven so fast, his ejection resembled a bolt of lightning streaking across the sky. Jesus said, “I was watching Satan fall like lightning from heaven” (Luke 10:18).
Even though God cast Satan out of heaven, He did not forever ban him from re-entering the heavenly realm. The account of Job tells us that the devil is still able to enter the gates of paradise.
One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them. The LORD said to Satan, ‘Where have you come from? Satan answered the LORD, From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it” (Job 1:6-7).
What was Satan doing on the earth?
There are a lot of things on earth even today that I don't think have any purpose. ;o)
This creature is not extinct, and all will see it one day. It is in the “deep” (the Second Heaven, or space), not in the ocean.
They found a bigger one, in southern India.
Lets hear it for the dinos!!!
Yes, because an elephant is a stretch but dinosaurs in Job aren't...;)
A cedar implies very large and thick.
And the verse - if you read it as it is written - does not say it is a cedar, just that it MOVES like a cedar. There is NO COMPARISON of the physical tail to the physical size or scale of the cedar tree! The ONLY comparison there is that the movement of the trunk is like how the cedar tree moves.
Really, the words are pretty plain and straight forward; it MOVES like the cedar tree. It is NOT like a tree in size at all. Trying to make that comparison IS a stretch.
We must be on the same wavelength..only you’re quicker on the post button. :o)
Then perhaps he was describing Cthulu?
Satan “creating” anything? NuhUh. Don’t think he has that kinda power.
read all of job 40 and 41, to keep it all in context. You will see an elephant is not what is being talked about
