I played musical churches in my young life. I was baptized in a Nazarene church, went to a private Baptist school, and later in life I spent time at a Catholic church and I found it interesting how the Bible’s were different and then there was the NIV version, and a couple other versions I think. Anyway, I was a lukewarm church goer at best, but I find ALL beliefs interesting. I also find it hard to believe that God has shown us all we will ever need to know. That is just my opinion though.
This thread cannot be a caucus because it is making comparisons between Holy writ. I will change the label to “ecumenical” so that antagonism is not allowed.
While the books of the Bible contain references to scripture that is currently unavailable, there are also many different versions of the Bible which contain different books. It is a false notion that the Bible has been and is a fixed set of scripture. Various editors have removed and added books to their version of the Bible based on their beliefs. Further the text of the Bible has been altered by copyists over the centuries. That is purpose of the field of NT textual criticism, to create a version of the NT that is as close as possible to the original text.
A good popular book on the subject is: "Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why"
This thread is about the Christian Bible...
THe Bible is believed and adhered to by Christians..
As a Christian and a reader and believer in the Christian Bible for the past 50+ years, I feel that I am being excluded from a thread about MY religion and MY Book of sacred scriptures...
