There is no need for ‘extra’ scripture.

The Bible is complete for matters of faith and doctrine and to imply or state that God could not preserve His word like He promises in the Bible by allowing errors to creep in is in effect stating that God is weak and not omnipotent.

And ‘miracles’ are NOT a sign something is from God. Satan can perform ‘miracles’ as well.

You would GAIN my respect if you were to tell the lurkers just what Joseph Smith 'learned' was UNTRUE about PRESBYTERIANism.

Comes from a defective theology. Their theology relies on subjective feelings and they are told so often not to ‘study too much’ or ‘study themselves out of the Church’ that many do not study at all, they just parrot what they are told by others.

We see a prime textbook example of that right here in the thread..

when you renounce mormonism, you are renouncing THEIR feelings and experiences. That is all that matters

Also, for them to be wrong means so many people they love are wrong too. Including people who have died.

I’ve not read the book, but I’ve seen the deception,
get rich quick schemes and the preying on others
to get rich themselves.

It kind or reminds me of that group in the Carolinas
that travel the country bilking people and the ability
to steal, cheat and deceive is highly rated. They pledge
their daughters to the sons of men who are most adept at
thievery.

I think they are called the Travelers. Their culture
rewards wealth and the ability to get wealth through
whatever means. Mormonism seems to hold in high esteem
worldly wealth and those who have it...

contrary to the Bibe, btw.

The LDS do worship their temples, they have icons of them in their houses, on their article of faith cards, on their wedding cakes,.........on their home pages...;)

We were talking about Joe Biden's ashes on the other thread. My thoughts have always been founded in my disdain for the show offs, the big talkers and those seeking notice in the wrong way, like "I'm the one that went to the temple" so, "I'm better than you". Or folks that wear a ribbon to show how much more they care about something than you do.

Then I saw the following quote on another thread and it hit me right in the face.

Good point. It is hard enough to deal with the fact you were deceived, but to know that all of your loved ones (including the dead) were deceived as well would be very hard indeed.

It does and the fact they see worldly wealth as a ‘blessing’ makes them work all the harder for it.

Very true. God doesn’t like ‘show offs’ and the LDS church is ALL about showing off (down to their PR dept).

I just saw that scripture and it blew me away. Brought new meaning to what a braggart is and in many ways is a descriptor of the pious mentality we try to overcome every day. PR campaigns will continue. Internet missionaries will be called and certain mindless folks will not be honest with themselves no matter what.

Of course the purposefully naive true believers will never understand the power of it as it regards themselves.

Why can’t they see what is so obvious to me?

So I am talking to my friend this morning, who is Mormon(I will relate why that is important in a later post) and she is having a bit of a challenge today.  Just being a little old, at 99 and 8 months, and things not working right today.
 
So I ask her if she wants me to sing some gospel songs today and maybe it would help.  She said "Yes, but dont we do that on Sunday?"  and I said "Yes, but maybe we need them today".
 
She said "I think so, I think so".
 
Now I have a whole list of songs, I sing for her and she somtimes joins in.  But, for some reason, these two songs I haven't heard since I was a child, popped into my head.  So typed in the songs, into youtube, to see if they were anything I might have actually heard or if my head was inventing stuff to hear.
 
Sure enough, they came up and I told my friend about them.  She thought she had heard them as well.
 
She can't hear so well so I printed the words for her to read.  The first song made her smile and she remembered hearing it and then I gave her the second song.  She lit up, beaming from ear to ear.
 
So I sang and them and couldn't believe I remembered them, notes and words.  Weird.
 
She asked "You really know these songs?".
 
I said "Yes, but I haven't heard or sung them since I was a child and it is the strangest thing they popped into my head today".
 
She asked if I had sung them to her before.  I told her "No, but, like I said maybe we needed to hear them today".
 
The songs?....And I cannot say why they popped into my head today, since I haven't heard them 30 years.
 
Now, Bill Gaither use to come to our church, when I was a child and I remembered they had sung these.

So like I said these two songs popped into my head for some reason and here is the next.  My friend just smiled from ear to ear as read the words while I sang:

Maybe these songs will have meaning to someone today.  They made me think about some things and I wanted to pass them on.

Christians recognize this as the Holy Spirit - and your faith in delivering them to this friend was true.
