This is a thread for the live streaming of Heart of the Matter an outreach to the LDS. A link with the archive will be posted when it is up.
I keep files of some previous posts for future use/reference.
I’m a historian, I archive (occupational hazard).
Thanks CC.
Regarding the female lead in the Insurance ads, I dated a gal my Freshman year of college would pass for her twin! ... More than four decades ago. I think she’s purdy fellas.
I was fully dunked “In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.” I’m a Mormon.
LDS Hymnal P. 180 “Father in Heaven, We Do Believe” Verses 5 and 6:
“We will be buried in the stream
In Jesus’ blessed name,
And rise, while light shall on us beam
The Spirit’s heav’nly flame.
“Baptize us with the Holy Ghost
And seal us as thine own,
That we may join the ransomed host
And with the Saints be one.”
Hallelujah! I am a Mormon.
LDS Hymnal P. 234 “Jesus, Mighty King in Zion”:
“Jesus, mighty King in Zion,
Thou alone our guide shalt be.
Thy commission we rely on
We will follow none but thee.
“As an emblem of thy passion
And thy vict’ry o’er the grave,
We, who know they great salvation,
Are baptized beneath the wave.
Fearless of the world’s despising
We the ancient path pursue
Buried with the Lord and rising
To a life divinely new.”
Amen.
We Mormons get fully dunked “In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.”
When I used to be an anti Mormon I used to believe, and repeat, all kinds of goofy lies that I heard from the pulpit of other churches and from other Christians. Mostly ignorance; some hate-filled.
I love my Church and I think it’s sad that some of these threads are just full of erroneous information about my faith.
I was thinking the other day. Never in my life have I had such wonderful true blue friends as since I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You will know them by their fruit. I have never felt such love and acceptance.
Right now, we are helping each other get our gardens ready for planting. Our Stake takes care of 80 acres of grapes - for raisins. I can’t really explain the feeling of brotherly love that flows as we work in the Lord’s Vineyard.
I love my Church. Jesus Christ is my Savior, Lord and Master; He is the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament and the Redeemer of the New Testament. Heavenly Father gave His Son to save the whole world from our sins. The Holy Ghost testifies of the Father and the Son.
Amen.
“( Remember fellow Christians: the Mormon’s criticize US because they’ve been taught that they CAN’T criticize ANY of their leaders; so they HAVE to vent somehow! )”
Over the years, I have tried to not let it hurt me when my Church is ridiculed and defamed. It still hurts, but not as much.
I am getting blessed by reading the words of hymns from the LDS hymnal. For example:
“Fill our hearts with sweet forgiving
Teach us tolerance and love.
Let our prayers find access to thee
In thy holy courts above.
Then, when we have proven worthy
Of thy sacrifice divine,
Lord, let us re-gain thy presence
Let thy glory round us shine.”
Every prayer prayed by a member of the LDS Church ends with “In the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.” Jesus is our Lord and Savior. He suffered and died for me, too.
I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I am not ashamed to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
see Shawn next week - might learn a few things rather than being a roboblotter.

WHOA, Resty!
This is a PRO-MORMON thread.
Out of great love, we want EVERY MORMON to
have eternal life through Jesus Christ.
We want EVERY MORMON to be set free from a life
of slavery to the BORG and to understand GRACE.
We want EVERY MORMON to come to know the real
God, who is revealed in the BIBLE - and not
the substitute gods that mormonism teaches.
That includes YOU too, Resty!
Best,
ampu
“roboblotter”!!! ;^)
Im a Mormon.

So you say...
But the Jesus of the Christian Bible wants you come out of mormonism and to be born again and be a Christian...
How’s your heart?
That does not make you a Christian. Baptism is an outward symbol of an innward change. It is NOT baptism into a denomination.
And theologically the LDS differ greatly from Christians which is why the LDS baptism IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY ANY CHRISTIAN CHURCH, even though they will accept other Christian baptisms.
IOW, the words used does not make it a valid baptism.
I notice you always put in your posts “I am a Mormon”.
Interesting. None of the rest of us put in “I am a Methodist, or “I am a Baptist” or so on. We identify only as Christians.
It says alot about where the LDS put their faith (in ‘the Church’ to save them).
Show us what is erroneous. I can guarantee you that I know more about Mormonism than 75% of active temple Mormons.
I have been LDS and I have no reason to lie and every reason to tell the truth.
And when Jesus talks about “fruit”, as in “by their fruits ye shall know them”, He is speaking about FALSE PROPHETS not ‘church members’ and the ‘fruits’ of Joseph Smith are rank indeed.
I am sure you have ‘nice friends’ but nice friends and good feelings will not save you, neither will ‘good works’ or temple rites, only faith in the Jesus of the Bible will save and sadly the LDS church does not believe in that Jesus.
I was fully dunked

And you’ll have the privilege of being dead dunked by some ignorant teenager in the name of mormonism after you die...
But you atill wont be a Christian if thats what you are relying on...
At 8 I was born again into the kingdom of God and became a Christian..
At 10 I was baptized in the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues and God talked to me and showed me things as I walked back and forth to school and at other times...
At 14 I was sprinkled with water, and at 30 I was fully submerged in water...
But there was nothing added to me that I did not already have at 10...
Whether spinkled or submerged, water baptisism is merely an outward display to acknowledge what has already happened and changed inside the heart...
Water baptism cannot save anyone...
You can get what you call “dunked” till the cows come home...
Amen, ampu!
Saundra, do you believe that a mortal can become a god?
Do you believe that in God’s plan, he has women, enslaved in eternal polygamous marriages, birthing spirit children to populate your celestial husbands planet?
One of the basic premises of mormonism is for an investigator to stop and think about the following; “If we call God ‘Heavenly Father’, then it stands to reason that we have a ‘Heavenly Mother’. Therefore, if we have a “Heavenly Mother and Father”, then they must be procreating spirit children to be born into this world. That they must have had a “Heavenly Mother and Father”, etc., etc.
God has already said in the Bible that there have been none before Him and none after.
How is it possible then, that He had heavenly parents?
Unlike some denominations, Presbyterians do not require a person to be entirely immersed in water during baptism. Baptism is received only once. Its effect is not tied to the moment when it is administered, for it signifies the beginning of life in Christ, not its completion. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) believes that persons of other denominations are part of one body of Christian believers; therefore, it recognizes and accepts baptisms by other Christian churches.
