Probably trying to figure out why the temples are so empty. I remember reading a few years ago that several temples cut the number of sessions because there was no one going.

And I understand why.

To them it isn’t “anti-mormonism” (meaning the teachings). It is “anti-mormon” because it is about them, their experience, their feelings.

when you renounce mormonism, you are renouncing THEIR feelings and experiences. That is all that matters.

You have hit the nail on the head. That is exactly what it is and why they are so hostile. By claiming their church is wrong, we are claiming that their feelings are wrong.

Well said indeed.

So no offense taken except for complete alteration of reality to suit your personal agenda and your outright ignorance of what your religion has on their website and promulgate further in each and every one of your student manuals.

How can you deny or ignore those as provable and measurable facts?

Well, because you can and want to see the world through a less than objective lens.

FEELINGS

Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
trying to forget my feelings of love.
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
trying to forget my feelings of love.

Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it.
I wish I’ve never met you, girl; you’ll never come again.

Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, feel you again in my arms.

Feelings, feelings like I’ve never lost you
and feelings like I’ve never have you again in my heart.

Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it.
I wish I’ve never met you, girl; you’ll never come again.

Feelings, feelings like I’ve never lost you
and feelings like I’ve never have you again in my life.

Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, feelings again in my arms.
Feelings...(repeat & fade fast)

Citing Bart Ehrman does nothing for your argument. He has an obvious athiest agenda and is not well respected in the academic community. You might as well source E.A. Wallis Budge.

I responded on the other thread about this but will post it again here (since it is the same link):

God being in control does not interfere with free will. However, if we conclude that the Bible is ‘incomplete’, when God tells us His word is sufficient, or that ‘traditions of men’ corrupted the Bible, THEN we are saying that God does NOT have the power to keep His Word together or keep His Church together.

Either God is all powerful, or He is not. If He is, then we can trust that His word (the Bible) is complete and infallible in matters of faith and doctrine. If He is not all powerful, then He is not God.

To say that there is ‘extra’ scripture is to demean God and suggest He is not capable of preserving His truth.

Just because other books are mentioned in the Bible, does not mean they are to be considered Scripture.

Paul quotes pagan philosophers, we don’t include those in scripture.

The Bible is complete.

Which Bible verses did the NIV delete?

- - - - - -
2 points. First that site is not allowed to be referenced on FR.

Second, it is not a reliable site or argument.

You have hit the nail on the head. That is exactly what it is and why they are so hostile. By claiming their church is wrong, we are claiming that their feelings are wrong.

It's more than that. Mormons are so invested during their whole lives in the idea that their church makes them "special" and superior, that when you point out the facts that show their "specialness" is based on an an illusion, you are stealing something that is their very core.

Are there members of any other Christian or even quasi-Christian church to whom the founder comes first, the church as an entity, comes second and Christ is relagated to third place?

Do you see members of any other sect saying "I love my Capital-C Church"? Do you know of any other sect in which there is a tradition carried down for more than a century that their members will "save the Constitution and control the government"? Do you know of anyother sect that demands its members make and consider sacred, this vow: "You do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the Kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion."

Law of Consecration

Consider that this sect and members in it are resolved to see that Mitt Romney becomes President of the United States.

“Anyone can look at the words of the Prophet Joseph Smith... Brigham Young and others.... I have always felt that they meant that sometime the question of whether we are going to proceed on the basis of the Constitution would arise and at this point government leaders who were Mormons would be involved in answering that question.”- George Romney, interview in “A Man’s Religion and American Politics: An Interview with Governor Romney,” Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, Autumn 1967, v. 2, p. 25

Many she'll tell us how many times she's been dunked for the Dead?
