It's more than that. Mormons are so invested during their whole lives in the idea that their church makes them "special" and superior, that when you point out the facts that show their "specialness" is based on an an illusion, you are stealing something that is their very core.
Are there members of any other Christian or even quasi-Christian church to whom the founder comes first, the church as an entity, comes second and Christ is relagated to third place?
Do you see members of any other sect saying "I love my Capital-C Church"? Do you know of any other sect in which there is a tradition carried down for more than a century that their members will "save the Constitution and control the government"? Do you know of anyother sect that demands its members make and consider sacred, this vow: "You do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the Kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion."
Consider that this sect and members in it are resolved to see that Mitt Romney becomes President of the United States.
Anyone can look at the words of the Prophet Joseph Smith... Brigham Young and others.... I have always felt that they meant that sometime the question of whether we are going to proceed on the basis of the Constitution would arise and at this point government leaders who were Mormons would be involved in answering that question.- George Romney, interview in A Mans Religion and American Politics: An Interview with Governor Romney, Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, Autumn 1967, v. 2, p. 25
I feel Good!
I knew that I would, now....
I feeeeel Good! I knew that I would -
So Good!
So Nice!
Dah, dah, dah!.....
It’s more than that. Mormons are so invested during their whole lives in the idea that their church makes them “special” and superior, that when you point out the facts that show their “specialness” is based on an an illusion, you are stealing something that is their very core.
