Resty, I’ve been through the temple, it is NOT sacred. It is kinda silly though. “Return and report”

And you are still taking Matt 7 out of context and I already explained the parable passages of Matt 13. *sigh*

Trying again...

LDS temple rites are NOT biblical nor are they ‘sacred’. They are a rip off of Masonic rituals. How do you explain that?

Jesus said the temple in Jerusalem would be destroyed...

As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.” Luke 21:6

Do you see all these great buildings?” replied Jesus. “Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” Mark 13:2

He wasnt concerned about it...

and He never said that a temple was “sacred” and necessary to perform “rituals” for admittance into His kingdom...

In fact God said the opposite...

“But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built! 1 Kings 8:27

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. Acts 17:24 Acts 7:48

But who is able to build a temple for him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him? Who then am I to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before him? 2 Chronicles 2:6

So the mormons sacrifice animals in their temples ???

As for Gordon Hinckley, the last profit...

He went but soon sent a letter home to his father declaring that it was a waste of “my time and your money”.

Soon after his whining the well connected Hinckley was transfered into the mission office to spare him the rigors of actual missionary toil, & to endlessly coddle him.

When Hinckley returned home, without actual applying he was given an administrative level job in a previoulsy NON existent Dept of LDS Inc IN 1935 -THE HEART OF THE GREAT DEPRESSION.

(From the LDS INC official video bio of Hinckley.)

I was also a missionary with Youth With a Mission for about five years; served 18 months in Belize (Central America) in the jungle. Mormons are NOT welcome in YWAM.

Wow. I am really saddened to see that you apparently knew the truth and traded it in for the lies of the LDS. Really Saundra, the LDS church is easily disprovable if you realize that feelings are not the arbiter of ‘truth’. And ‘good works’ do not save. God gave you a brain and expects you to use it. Come home to Christ, please.

I feel bad for all the horrible things I used to say and believe about Mormons. The same kind of trash I read on these threads.

- - - - - - -

Everything I say about mormon doctrine/belief/practice I can back up with quotes from LDS sources. I have never lied nor do I need to, LDS sources condemn themselves and the Bible condemns LDS doctrine.

I pray that your eyes and heart will be opened and you will return to the REAL Jesus.

If what I say makes you really mad - and apparently it does as someone accused me of blasphemy (in capital letters followed by three exclamation marks), then I think some of you have real spiritual problems.

Well, from your response it seems like I may have made YOU mad. And, yes, I did accuse you of blasphemy. ANYONE who believes that they can become a god of their own planet (making themselves in essence equal to God) is guilty of blasphemy.

Christians have a right to be upset when someone claims to worship Christ yet spouts blasphemy and twists the words of God.

And it boggles my mind that the LDS do not see that doctrines like that are blasphemous and wonder why Christians get upset.

And you may think (your words) that I have "real spiritual problems", but I do not see how me thinking that a church that CLAIMS to be Christian yet denigrates the sacrifice of my Savior on the Cross and teaches God was once a man and that men can become Gods is guilty of blasphemy equals me having 'spiritual problems'.

You do not know my heart, or my relationship with Christ, but I assure you that *I* am not the one with 'spiritual problems'.

I am secure in my salvation and grateful that Christ suffered and died on the Cross to pay for ALL my sins and all I have to do is accept it. No 'works' required. I place my faith in Christ, not a 'church', to save me. Can you say the same thing?

My faith is my business; it’s a free country; and you have no right getting upset over my personal faith.

I think you misunderstand freedom of religion, you have a right to belong to any faith you choose, and I have a right to oppose that church and speak out against it.

And Mormonism IS my business when they on one hand want to be considered Christians and on the other hand teach all other Christian churches are apostate and then they teach heretical doctrines and attempt to pass them off as the teachings of Christ.

It is my DUTY as a Christian to speak out against such things and against those who preach a different gospel than the Bible yet want to be called "Christian".

2 Corinthians 11:12-13: And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ.

Why don’t you go after the Catholics for a while and leave us Mormons alone.

Typical response and assumption that all anti-mormons must also be anti-Catholic. Saundra, I don't "go after" Catholics because I consider them to be part of the body of Christ (Christians). I study Catholic history professionally and am often invited unto Catholic caucus threads here, even though I am not (not have I ever been) Catholic. And I can't just 'leave the Mormons alone'. I know too much.

Having been LDS, I know their doctrines and history and know exactly how they differ from Traditional Christianity. It would not be very Christian of me to adopt a 'live and let live' attitude towards a group that is not only heretical but dangerous emotionally and spiritually.

God has given me a burden to witness to the LDS and to show the world that the LDS is not what they portray themselves to be: "just another Christian denomination". It is my calling from God to expose Mormonism and a little name-calling will not deter me from what God wants me to do.

To: Saundra Duffy

Saundra,

It appears from your post that you were at one time a traditional Christian. I breaks my heart to see you trade that for the chains of Mormonism.

I used to be an active, faithful TBM. I went to BYU, was engaged to a Returned Missionary, payed a full tithed, magnified my callings and prepared for a mission.

And then I discovered that there was absolutely NO WAY that the papyrus JS claimed to have translated the Book of Abraham from actually contained what Smith said it did.

Then I found out about all of his other wives and the fact he lied about them (to the church as well as Emma) and the different and conflicting “First Vision” accounts. After that the LDS church fell like a house of cards, regardless of any “good feelings” or ‘burning in the bosom’ I had.

God gave me common sense and a brain and He expected me to use it and despite my feelings and genuine love for the LDS church and all of my LDS friends, I could no longer be intellectually dishonest and make excuses for those things.

Spiritually I was a ‘whitewashed sepulcher’. I did everything the LDS told me, on the outside I was completely “worthy”, but no matter how hard I tried, I knew that “after all I could do” was not enough. Trying to achieve moral perfection in this life was not only impossible and a heavy burden, but an INSULT to GOD. The LDS makes us get so caught up in “following the commandments” (which is THEIR OWN RULES AND REGULATIONS not just Biblical commands) that the focus becomes our works and our worthiness and trying to ‘measure up’. The LDS not only embraces, but encourages legalism and hypocrisy. This is the same legalism that Jesus condemned the pharisees for.

Christ doesn’t want our ‘best’, He wants us to SURRENDER to Him, He wants us to QUIT trying and start TRUSTING. Those are things the LDS church not only discourages but has taught against.

It was devastating for me to realize that the LDS church was not true. I had a lot invested in it and I loved it. But I could not live a lie so I left.

And, praise God, Christ found me broken and He healed me, made me perfect (complete), changed my heart and took my burden. I am FREE in Christ when before I was bound in chains both to sin and to Mormonism.

Legalism is binding, not freeing and Mormonism is legalism.

Come back to Christ alone, place your trust in Him not the LDS church, He has not forgotten you and He still loves you.

I don’t know why you guys get so offended. Me thinks thou protesteth a little too much.

- - - - - - -

We get offended because the LDS claim to be Christians yet bring God and Christ down (’elder brother’, atonement in the garden, God was once man) and elevate humans (men can become Gods, the ‘fall’ was a good thing).

To a Christian, who knows his proper place (face down in Worship of the only true God) those unbiblical doctrines are offensive. Anything that takes away from the sacrifice and Grace of our Lord Jesus is offensive!

And to top it off, the LDS turn around and claim that non Mormons who are Christians are ‘pagans’ and ‘so called Christians’ (Gospel Principles, CH 16) and that the LDS are the “only true Christians”.

I mean, you HAVE to be kidding me. Why are we offended? The LDS insult MY LORD AND MY GOD and then say *I* am not a Christian because I don’t accept the word of a known con man and liar (Joseph Smith) who couldn’t even keep his stories straight.

Sheesh...I don’t think we protest nearly enough.

Resty, none of those verses say anything about praying about the Bible. I know those verses are often given as ‘proof texts’ by the LDS and reiterated by members without thinking, but taken in CONTEXT, they do not state we are to ask if things are true. *SIGH*

Most of them are about PRAYER for our needs. God hears our prayers and gives His children what they need.

However, HE NEVER SAYS to pray about the truthfulness of something (doctrine or the Bible), because HE expects (actually DEMANDS) that we TRUST Him and His Word. Our feelings will deceive us and we are to test things against the BIBLE, not our feelings.

It is a good idea to look up Bible verses in context before posting them.

That's too bad!

I wonder just WHERE this attitude came from???
