Shunning and condemnation like you experienced is a common control that cults use to keep the ‘sheep’ in the pen. Keep them in using fear.

Thank you nana. Those were other applicable verses.

God does nothing in secret. His very incarnation was Him showing us His love and power. He does not reside in buildings of wood or stone or in denominations. He lives in us and through us. That is just so amazing that our King would die for us, that our God would die for us.

I realize that now, at the time I couldn’t figure out why all of a sudden they hated me. I was still the same person, I just wasn’t LDS anymore.

If you are going to quote me please do accurately:

Its like pounding one head against the wall....

What you have posted has nothing to do with God hiding His Word.

I am truly sorry that you apparently are unable to grasp that fact.

now imagine the bic with generations of mormon forebearers and a lifetime of observing what happens to those who leave the fold.

It is no different from JWs and other cults - psychological pressure / brainwashing to keep you in line. ( and don’t ask so many questions - woman)

Your point, resty? Just because Jesus spoke in parables still does not prove that He hid things from the world. Parables are stories to teach a lesson, like an analogy. LDS temple rituals are in no way parables.

The idea that there is “hidden knowledge” needed for salvation is a gnostic (pagan) idea that Joseph Smith used for control. It is not Biblical.

Then the LORD God said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? ...Then the LORD said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.” ...Then Abraham approached him and said: “Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? Then he said, ..”May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?” He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.” Genesis 18:17, 20, 23, 24, 32

I have seen that with several of my other ex-mo friends. Bishops who counsel the wife to divorce the husband, parents who no longer talk to their kids or their kids no longer talk to them, brothers and sisters divided.

For a church that supposedly emphasizes families, I have certainly seen a lot of them destroyed simply because one member became a Born Again Christian.

Those tactics are among the MOST common reported by ex-mormons - especially as crazy as it sounds - divorce and marry a ‘good’ mormon.

btw, did you get my freepmail?

It was a shock to me when the mormon woman I worked with suddenly started destroying my belongings, shunning me and causing trouble for me at work...

It was weeks before I found out she hated me because a friend of mine had insulted her by inviting her to come to the Christian Church we attended..

Just saying No was not enough for her ...she had to grind me into the ground...

My cousin was hauled (my word) by her husband to the bishop and was berated for not being worthy because she was trying to reconcile with her father and mother (my uncle /aunt also lds, but devalued). She was devastated by the treatment. It did not turn out well.

So much for family values.

I have a friend who left the Church about a year ago and his father will not let his mother talk to him. She has to sneak out and call her son from friends’ houses.

When my son in law was preaching at an evening service, I asked my uncle if he and my aunt would like to come over, you know a family afternoon then church.
His response was “we are not allowed to do that”. I actually laughed, thinking he was kidding. He repeated that they were not allow to attend other church services.

I just do not get that. When someone at our church decides to go someplace else, we pray for them and wish them well. And still get together. Just because they attend other services does not in anyway mean they are still not part of the Body of Christ.

Isnt it odd that they seem to forget that when they insist Christians attend services at the mormon wards...

Exactly. But true Christians recognize other true Christians (regardless of denomination) as also being members of the body of Christ.

Pseudo-Christian groups like the LDS think only those belonging to their specific denomination (or church) is a Christian or a ‘real’ Christian.

It makes a huge difference in how we treat those who attend another church.
