I just do not get that. When someone at our church decides to go someplace else, we pray for them and wish them well. And still get together. Just because they attend other services does not in anyway mean they are still not part of the Body of Christ.
Exactly. But true Christians recognize other true Christians (regardless of denomination) as also being members of the body of Christ.
Pseudo-Christian groups like the LDS think only those belonging to their specific denomination (or church) is a Christian or a ‘real’ Christian.
It makes a huge difference in how we treat those who attend another church.
I have a very diverse Christan life. I was raised Disciples of Christ then Methodist. I converted to Orthodox in my early adulthood due to desire and marriage. I later divorced and remarried and my wife and I attend a Methodist church we like since Orthodoxy was a bit much for a Southern Baptist small town country girl (despite getting her advanced degrees in California)
So while we normally attend our Methodist Church, I, from time to time, attend Orthodox services. We also still go to her little Baptist Church back home. I also attend, on occasion, a little Anglican Church where an African Minister I love to here preach (and is a good friend of mine) is the minister.
I am welcome at all, hugged by all my friends and others at all and here is the best part, I feel both personally and spiritually at home in all.
That concept is beyond the training and understanding of the LDS rank and file and verboten by their leadership.
