This is a thread for the live streaming of Heart of the Matter an outreach to the LDS. A link with the archive will be posted when it is up.
PING to # 240 sorry...
Receive the fulness, glory, and grace of the Father (see D&C 76:55, 56, 94).
Be able to have offspring, or in other words, gain the right to become eternal parents (see D&C 131:4).
= = = = = = = = =
These two in particular point to the LDS hope of becoming gods themselves, which is blasphemy.
Awesome.
totally cool pic!
Close, he boasted that he had done more than Jesus to hold the church together. That's a whole other topic though.
I sense a smattering of guilt in your post. I'm not trying to mind read or anything, but is it possible you joined the mormon church because they are nice people and you felt bad for your prior beliefs and actions?
It's not uncommon for folks to start identifying with those whom they feel they've maligned and to then join them.
You can choose to answer or not, it's just an observation.
ttt
Nice verses resty but they have nothing to do with the CONTENT of the temple rituals. Those are not in any LDS scripture.
And, if they are eternal, as the LDS claim, why have they been changed so often and drastically. Not just the words, but the oaths and tokens and signs as well?
Can God not decide what is necessary to get into the celestial kingdom?

Resty, did you ever wonder why the Bible doesnt ask us to pray if things are true?
It doesnt, instead it tells us to be like the Bereans and research it.
Feelings are subjective, just because you are told a happy feeling comes from God doesnt mean that it does. The heart is a deceitful thing.

NO!
Now are you sure that there is nothing in the Bible where the Lord councils how to ask? reaganaut?
I think you are confused it is the Lord who is in charge the Bible although scripture is the record
But it is the Lord who ask his children to seek and to ask in the name of the Father.
Here the Lord is counseling how to ask in His Name
Luke 11:
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
John 16:
23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
Luke 18
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother
1 John. 3:
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
James 4:
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Matt. 7:
7 ¶ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Here the Lord gave an indepth answer
D&C 9
6 Do not murmur, my son, for it is wisdom in me that I have dealt with you after this manner.
7 Behold, you have not understood; you have supposed that I would give it unto you, when you took no thought save it was to ask me.
8 But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right.
9 But if it be not right you shall have no such feelings, but you shall have a stupor of thought that shall cause you to forget the thing which is wrong; therefore, you cannot write that which is sacred save it be given you from me.
Yeh, its a keeper. LOL
Keep going Elsie post all you want someday you can never say you were not aware of all the words of the Lord as you stand there!

Likewise, Resty. When all the stand before God and discover what we already know (that Smith was a fraud and Mormonism is a lie), many will not be able to say that they were not warned and God will not look favorably upon them for choosing Mormonism and salvation by works over Christ Jesus and salvation by faith.
svcw: I say: from Joe Smith, never gonna happen.
Nope never happened in the past...and never will...[nana]

There is no ‘f’ in Prophet.

Are you claiming that SZonian wasn’t SINCERE when he went through the temple??? Imagine THAT!!

Many LDS would probably say neither he or I were sincere when we “prayed” about the book of Mormon.
I seem to recall SOMEONE suggesting that I joined the LDS for ‘social reasons’ the other day.
THAT was laughable.
IF the temple rites are of God, why does he hide them? If God wanted all of His children to return to Him, wouldnt he ensure that the entirety of His plan was made known to all?
Why would it be so conditional? What purpose does God have if He is making His children solve a maze? None. His plan is in the open, in the scripture. Temple rites are not in the scripture, they are secret from the eyes of man.

Well said.

Matt 7
6 ¶ Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
7 ¶ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened
Those verses have NOTHING to do with temple rites.. Those verses about pearls and swine are taken so far out of context I am not sure where to begin. It is from a discourse on holiness and to not waste your holiness on those who are worldly, it has nothing to do with handshakes and oaths. God does everything out in the open
Mark 4:21-22
He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.
Thank you for now I know you know nothing!
I was told by a mormon poster that I was never a TBM and faithful mormon because if I had been, my apostasy would not have occurred.
