... I was told as a child by my Baptist friend that Catholics pray to Cleopatra and all sorts of other dead people.

My best friends grandmother, a Jehova Witness, told me the Pope was the devil. Since I was 6 or 7, and the devil always scared the heck out me, I avoided thinking about anything related to the church and God.

Needless to say, I had a very turbulent adolecense. Thank God for my Catholic mother. My friend's Grandmother was eventually diagnosed with a mental illness. My friend who converted to Catholisism, gets mad when her sisters send her anti-Catholic emails. She says they have no idea what they are talking about but fervently believe the lies they repeat.

She says they fail to question, for a even a minute, the many inconsistencies and problems that Jeh. Witnesses have. She told me that as long as they are focusing on the problems of other faiths, they won't notice their own issues, so maintaining their faith within "The Kingdom Hall", almost requires that they only focus on other faith problems whether real, or percieved.

Several years ago while visiting Rome I was able to see John Paul II, give Eastern mass in the Vatican. It was unplanned and coincidence (Grace of God). That was a true healing moment.

I probably came full circle when walking the Via Dolorosa (Stations of the Cross) in Jerusalem. It was there, that I felt mind, body, and soul, God's love and the importance of my role as a mother.

I still get teary eyed when I visualize Jesus' mother seeing her Son being abused and tortured, while carrying His cross. Mary's commitment to God was unconditional. That event healed my hardened heart.

(I love you Father, please help me have a heart like the Blessed Mary and forgive me.)

FOURTH STATION Via Dolorosa

Jesus meets his Mother

We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee.

For by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

From the Gospel according to Luke. 2:34-35,51

Simon blessed them and said to Mary his mother: "Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is spoken against (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that thoughts out of many hearts may be revealed". And his mother kept all these things in her heart.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful story. I can completely connect with you re: Stations of the Cross. I remember Lent as a child and weeping over what was done to our Lord and how his Mother must have felt. I had to grow much older before I completely understood why Christ had to suffer and die for our sins.

"John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting."
