The Scenario:
Ever have one of those days when youre feeling full of energy and vigor? I mean, youre feeling just obnoxiously happy? Well, this is one of those days.
Driving home from work, you switch on the radio to see whats happening, and you tune in to a local Protestant radio station just in time to hear a preacher speaking against various Catholic doctrines concerning Mary. The show is called Pastor Bobs Bible Hour. Pastor Bob proclaims: Jesus knew Catholics would come along and begin to worship His mother and call her perpetual virgin and absurd things like that. But the Bible says: Is not this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary? And are not His brethren James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all of His sisters with us? (Matt. 13:55-56a). And isnt it sad, my brothers and sisters?
Pastor Bob goes on to say: Jesus dealt with these Mary worshippers in His day. In Luke 11:27-28, the Bible says, A woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts that You sucked! But He said, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!
On a normal day you would probably just listen, take a few mental notes and drive on. But not this time. Youre feeling a little bit too saucy. You take the first exit you see and head for a phone. This is just one more reason why you need to buy that cell phone youve been talking about getting.

Amen
And you know this how??
Here is the problem with that
If Mary was free from original and all sin, then Jesus did not get a HUMAN nature from her.. Human nature is more than a body, it is a fallen nature.. In effect Jesus had God for a father and a god for a mother..He had no humanity if you are right
I hope we make them at least look at this scripturally
:)
He mixed Christianity and paganism to give us what we call Roman Catholicism today
All of it?? So she flew into the desert with the eagle wings she grew ??? One can always discern false doctrine because they pick verses out of context and ignore the ones that do not fit.. Soo Catholic
No, his ministry started at his baptism, where John introduced him as "the Lamb of God" and God authenticated his Sonship. Then followed his probationary period when like Adam he was tempted and thereafter he chose his disciples. The Cana wedding was his first recorded miracle. Mary mediated nothing just observed that the refreshments had run out.
"Mary is with Jesus, at a difficult time, where He likens all of faith to her, and explains that her physical motherhood "paps that gave Thee suck" is less important than her faith and ours. Important lesson."
Mary was not with Jesus when the anonymous woman said "blessed is the womb....". But you are right in saying that those that hear the word and keep it are more blessed than Mary for just giving physical birth.
The Greek word menoun (yea rather) in Luke 11:28, contrasts what is said before with what comes after with the emphasis on what comes after. The word is used in Rom. 9:20 "Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?" and Phil. 3:8, "Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,".
"the Cross itself, where her universal motherhood is revealed"
If you want to be allegorical about this the "universal motherhood" was revealed long before the cross when Jesus said (Mark 3:34), And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! At the cross, because of their unbelief his brothers weren't there so Jesus entrusted his mother to his cousin John; a natural thing to do in the culture.
"Acts 12, fighting Satan and your calumnies. Acts 12. Please tell me the Mother of Christ is not Mary, so I can make fun of you some more."
?, I don't understand your insult. Doesn't your bible have verse 12 in it? Mine says that the house belonged to Mary the mother of John Mark. There is no mention of Mary, the mother of Jesus, being present when Peter goes to the house.

I’m sorry. I haven’t seen that post. Thank you for telling me.
I understand that, but Peter was becoming a Judaizer and part of the problem brought to the Jerusalem ...that was a matter of faith and doctrine ...nope not infallible
Further, St. Peter wasnt even a pope then.
When did he become pope ? I believe it was .. 300 years later...
Yes, the implication that Mary is the Queen of Heaven is in Rev. 12 and yes, somebody long before that worshiped a false one.
And to fill in the hole left by the lack of a goddess Rome made Mary into one
This scripture is talking about making intercessions TO GOD..through Christ that is the correct context.. I feel so sorry for catholics..rightly dividing scriptures has never been taught to them
It is just "repeat after me.. "
Yes, in this role it is the human nature of Christ that mediates. Yes, Christ is God.
Again, if Mary was sinless she did not have a human nature to pass on to Christ, she herself was a god..
But if it is the humanity of Christ that mediates for us, why on earth would we need another human mediator?? When we can come boldly before His throne ??
7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. 8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
You prove that you ignore context.
The Roman Catholic church would never have been born had there been any respect for God’s word.
My maternal grandfather was threatened with excommunication in 1910 for asking for a Bible, so he excommunicated himself and went to the Bible Book Store and bought a Bible. He never stopped reading it ‘til the day he died.
He eventually led the entire family to a real Christian church, resulting in the saving of almost 60 people in one year.
and was pregnant for 3 and a half years.
You see how it is done:
I posted:
Yes, God regarded her humility, not her deification. And calling someone blessed is not akin to veneration or worship. Many in the Scriptures are called blessed-including every forgiven sinner (Rom. 4).
Notice, Catholic Church is not anywhere in the three sentences.
but, a Catholic replies:
Congratulations, you agree with the Catholic Church!
When I hadnt said anything about the Catholic Church yet.
So, I respond,
Twist,twist.
God regarded her humility.
The CC regards her as deified.
And the same Catholic then replies:
Perhaps the CC does.
The Catholic Church does not regard Mary as deified. [LOL!]
And, no, you don’t get to change that.
I will add here that the Catholic Church is first and foremost its priests, and the priests who make the statements as in Post #503 dont get rebuked or corrected for it. Since these are public record, it is fair to assume that the Vatican is very aware of the long-running deification of Mary, and it is also fair to take their statements as reflecting the attitude and position of the church.
Nobody needs to change anything.
Staggering!
Well something do take longer than others
