The Scenario:
Ever have one of those days when youre feeling full of energy and vigor? I mean, youre feeling just obnoxiously happy? Well, this is one of those days.
Driving home from work, you switch on the radio to see whats happening, and you tune in to a local Protestant radio station just in time to hear a preacher speaking against various Catholic doctrines concerning Mary. The show is called Pastor Bobs Bible Hour. Pastor Bob proclaims: Jesus knew Catholics would come along and begin to worship His mother and call her perpetual virgin and absurd things like that. But the Bible says: Is not this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary? And are not His brethren James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all of His sisters with us? (Matt. 13:55-56a). And isnt it sad, my brothers and sisters?
Pastor Bob goes on to say: Jesus dealt with these Mary worshippers in His day. In Luke 11:27-28, the Bible says, A woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts that You sucked! But He said, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!
On a normal day you would probably just listen, take a few mental notes and drive on. But not this time. Youre feeling a little bit too saucy. You take the first exit you see and head for a phone. This is just one more reason why you need to buy that cell phone youve been talking about getting.
Step One:

No! Mary used her gamma rays to stop the rotation of the earth!
?
Well that explains the time warp!
If I kiss my bible, does that mean I love leather and paper? Could it possibly mean I love the Word of God?Your interpretation of Catholic beliefs, is simply a lack understanding.
The Pharisees didn't understand Jesus' explanation of God's love. They also felt entitled to crucify him. We know how Jesus felt about them.
We live in a world of Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Athiesm, and New Age cults, yet you choose to attack Catholics who also recognize Jesus as our Savior? Why?
Why is discussing different theology beliefs on a religion forum set up to discuss theology, “attacking” anybody?
It was not an accusation, it was a request, and I repeat it now.
We read it all, but we understand metaphore when metaphore is used. The eagle wing passage also applies to Mary, like the door passage applies to Jesus. It is most likely a reference to her assumption into heaven.
[St. Peter] was part of the reason that council was called
No kidding. He had the vision of all foods becoming clean and he converted the first Gentile, so yes, definitely. He also did most of the speaking.
he was pope before he had the Holy Spirit
Or, at least, he received the command to become one. Protestant translations, by the way, routinely insert "elder" where either "episcopos" (bishop) or "presbyteros" (priest) is used in the original. This is just not a belief system based on honesty. Anyway, if you tell me which verse in your translation identified Peter as "elder" I will tell you what the Bible really says.
Except that she is identified in the text as mother of Christ rather than Mrs. YHvH. I just read what is written.
sorry but that is YOPIOS. Using that excuse for hermeneutics, makes chaos and nonsense out of biblical interpretation and understanding. You have to use the whole passage, in context, and use the whole bible for interpretation, not imagination or "feel good" theology.
I’m not going to rise to the bait.
It's all in the technique. For instance, someone could ask, "Why does Mary hold such a high position in your Church?" or someone could ask, "Why are you Romish cultists always worshipping that sinner, Mary?"
That may be difficult to understand. No problem. It's hard to rise above bigotry.
Two other people that I have pinged routinely disagree with me on biblical issues, and then we defend our positions using scripture, and even then we still disagree, sometimes contentiously. however, neither one has called me "a bigot" for "attacking" their beliefs nor have I ever thought they were anything other than the finest Christians. Disagreement is not "hatred".
To repeat:
It’s all in the technique. For instance, someone could ask, “Why does Mary hold such a high position in your Church?” or someone could ask, “Why are you Romish cultists always worshipping that sinner, Mary?”
To add:
And we know, from all the posts over many years, that any answer will be met with: “Aha! You admit RC’s are a cult, that you bow down to idols and worship them! Frankly, we fear you are going to perdition!”
It doesn’t matter what Catholics say, the bigots are only preaching to the lurkers anyway. Asking the same question over and over and over again, rejecting the answer, and calumnizing the answerer is a game. We Catholics know it. So we are not impressed when our antagonists insist their questions are sincere. We know full well they are not.
How? By experience over years.
We also know that laying out the game like this will bring a charge of “whining.” Does that bother us? Nope. It is as true as all the other charges the enemies of the Church lay out.
“But we love Catholics!” some aver. I have news for those people: we Catholics know what love feels like, and none of it is present in 99 percent of our castigaters.
The bigots think they have a better way: well, git on down that road with your bad self, I say, and leave us alone.
Oh, and to the amen chorus above: pathetic.
Then you might want to reconsider calling people that you don't know, "bigots"
Please stop with the personal attacks and don’t make this thread about me.
No, I have come to this conclusion after nearly 10 years of reading protestant posts on the religion forum, interacting with the posters, and observing the behavior.
Now, all the protestants blend together. Who cares what any of you say? Not me.
