The Scenario:
Ever have one of those days when youre feeling full of energy and vigor? I mean, youre feeling just obnoxiously happy? Well, this is one of those days.
Driving home from work, you switch on the radio to see whats happening, and you tune in to a local Protestant radio station just in time to hear a preacher speaking against various Catholic doctrines concerning Mary. The show is called Pastor Bobs Bible Hour. Pastor Bob proclaims: Jesus knew Catholics would come along and begin to worship His mother and call her perpetual virgin and absurd things like that. But the Bible says: Is not this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary? And are not His brethren James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all of His sisters with us? (Matt. 13:55-56a). And isnt it sad, my brothers and sisters?
Pastor Bob goes on to say: Jesus dealt with these Mary worshippers in His day. In Luke 11:27-28, the Bible says, A woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts that You sucked! But He said, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!
On a normal day you would probably just listen, take a few mental notes and drive on. But not this time. Youre feeling a little bit too saucy. You take the first exit you see and head for a phone. This is just one more reason why you need to buy that cell phone youve been talking about getting.

Wrong. You made the accusation that someone was stalking by dragging over something from another thread. When you were confronted with the fact that the_conscience had done that on this thread, you were reduced to a childish remark.
Not very impressive.
I agree, but it does seem that you would be ignoring what is written in Luke 1:48.
How in the world would that serve to harm the Catholic Church?
lol
Judy,
I merely pointed to the fact the Sidebar Moderator mistakenly forgot to log out of moderator mode before posting a pro-Romanist argument. Strangely you quickly responded to my mentioning that fact.
Thus your opinions are misguided.
I prefer to let the moderator deal with the disputes, that’s his or hers job, not mine. I can point out inconsistencies I hope,it’s still a Free Republic, and I think the mod knows who is here to cause turmoil constantly, whine and cry and who isn’t. And please, stop besmirching my character and “Don’t make this thread about me!” Thank you
Christians worship on Rishon, Jews worship on Shabbat, and Messianic Jews worship on Freyja’s Day and/or Saturn’s Day.
“I agree, but it does seem that you would be ignoring what is written in Luke 1:48.”
Ignoring? Maybe. Purposefully with malice aforethought? Certainly not.
“Boy, that’s not gonna work.”
Why not?
“I have family members who are Catholicwho always want toknowmy reasons for not worshipping Mary.”
Not sure what you mean here. I assume you tell them you don’t worship Mary because she isn’t divine, right? (this is the Catholic reason for not worshipping Mary). Do they say they worship Mary? If so, you should tell their priest or bishop so they can be disciplined to teach them the truth of the Church, and if that fails to kicketh them out until they change their ways.
“I’m also related to the Archbishop of Denver, let’s ask him!”
Cool, invite him to post on FR. Here’s it is again, to make it easier for you.
As an experiment, go up to a bishop and tell him you want to join the Catholics so you can worship Mary as divine, like Jesus, because that’s what the Church teaches. If your statements are true he should welcome you with open arms and without reservations, maybe even commenting that you already sound very well catechized in the Catholic faith, as supposedly Catholics worship Mary and the Church promotes this, right? Or do you think something else would happen, and if so, why?
Freegards
I’m not referring to that.

When I state what actually happened, that is not “besmirching” your character. If the shoe fits....
Statements of someone’s actions do not make the thread about them.
Great! You are a success!

Luke 1
26 In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said, "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you."
But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end."
But Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?"
And the angel said to her in reply, "The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. (immaculate conception)
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; for nothing will be impossible for God."
Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her.
During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."
And Mary said: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. (With a few exceptions) The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
Here's the authentic deal:
And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.Matthew 28:18-20
That's good.
I follow Yah'shua as quoted in Matthew
What you [mis]qutoted was what our Lord told His Disciples and they, under the leadership of Saint Peter, became the first Catholic bishops and baptized new Christians in the Name the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. They were the leaders of His Church, the same Church you condemn.
Great! You are a success!
Merely preach YHvH's scriptures as commanded. I'm not responsible for anyone else's salvation.
