I think that anyone that “hates” the Mormon church is being over-dramatic. I personally dislike that they insist on calling themselves “Christians.” When they most certainly are not. If they were “Christian” they would not need a separate “Book of Mormon” made up by a known con-man.

What I have a great deal of disdain for is the arrogance of people whose very belief was founded on calling other faiths "abominable" and who send out 60,000+ missionaries a year, feeling they have a "God-given right" to knock on your door and tell you YOUR Christian faith is false. Then they will tell you that the only way to salvation is by accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet and becoming a member of his church.
THEN, if anyone disputes their message, they are named haters and there is a great effort to stifle the opposition by censoring the message...even here on FreeRepublic.
The message of Christ is perverted by their worldwide distribution of "scriptures" and even Christian hymns are edited to delete the message of the Cross.
After 150 years of mormon leaders speaking and publishing words of hate for Christians, some PR hack in Salt Lake decided that NOW mormonism deserves to be called "Christian".

Yep, stay on topic, if they make it personal like some have tried recently, do your best to ignore it or put the burden of proof on them. Don’t wrestle with the pigs.
The longer a thread can remain on the boards, the better the chance of someone learning something.

Do not accuse another Freeper of telling a lie on the Religion Forum. The word attributes the intent to deceive and is therefore "making it personal."
Words such as false, inaccurate, incorrect do not attribute motive and are not "making it personal."
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

One post was pulled for language. There is no effort to get this article pulled.

Cherry picking three posts out of hundreds does not a convincing argument make. I’m glad you found a religion which suits you better. Why don’t you do something positive with it rather than dwelling on your negative perceptions of one which doesn’t suit you . . . but still produces millions of good American citizens and conservative voters?

When I read what is known of the Mormon founder, Joseph Smith I wondered how any one could believe his made up story of “ The Lost Tribe of Israel” being the American Indian.
The “ Gold Tablets” hoax is another story.
What a horrible history to try and defend.

Why dont you do something positive with it rather than dwelling on your negative perceptions of one which doesnt suit you . . . And one could ask you the same question. Why are you here to attack your negative perception of me, and go do something positive? :D

Once in awhile you have to be called out on your distortions and once in awhile I feel like doing it.
Compare my posting history to yours. Less than 5% of my postings have anything to do with Mormons. Less than 5% of yours have anything to do with any other topic.

Why do they hate us? The responses The head line itself is typical mormonism.
I've never seen anyone on these threads that hates mormons. The writer is casting herself as a victim.
Why is mormonism hated? As Christians we hate the sin and love the sinner.

I don't appreciate having missionaries trying to strike up a conversation on the street that inevitably leads to debate. . . . I don't want to talk about it in a conversation that ends up in a mental battle over who got in the final word and who happens to be right. If I say 'no' I mean it. Don't try striking up the conversation from a different angle. Simply say 'OK,' say something nice like, 'Have a nice day,' smile and go about your business."This just silly. If this person doesn't want to get into debates with Mormon missionaries on the street, why not take his/her own advice to them. Just smile or say "have a nice day", and KEEP WALKING if you don't want to talk to them. I've never heard of Mormon missionaries physically accosting anyone to try to prevent them from walking away (and if any were ever crazy enough to try it, they'd be arrested). If s/he chooses to stop and debate with them, it's for the same reason they're trying to talk to him/her -- a strong urge to convert others to their belief system -- so it's hypocritical to criticize them for that.

Well 84% of my life was Mormonism, non-stop. I think I've earned the right to tell my story. Often people who escape abusive cults go on to dedicate their lives and passions to warning others away. My response is healthy and quite typical.
Now why exactly, do YOU post about Mormonism? Are you Mormon?

It is not surprising really. When you are taught that Jesus is weak and a victim, it isn’t a stretch to view yourself in the same manner. It is also outa their play book.

Why, yes I did and in it you said this:
But at least I'm honest enough to admit it and move on with my life.
So follow your own advise and just move on. Why do you spend 5% of your time defending Mormonism? Your actions are curious.
