2 peter 1 has no reference to salvation.
You are confusing salvation with works. This is going nowhere (as with all Catholics).
You asked about the possibility of avoiding sin, and I showed you. But the last verse that I quoted in 2 Peter explains how by works the faithful “make sure their election”. Election is salvation, — that’s who the elect are.
Election and salvation are not the same.
What makes sure our salvation is believing in Christ’s shed blood on the cross for our sins. Someone could never do one “good deed” and still be in heaven upon death. Sadly, they would have very little as far as rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
Well, the difference is that apparently the election still needs to be secured, before it becomes salvation.
What makes it sure, St. Peter explains in the verses that I posted. It only starts with faith.
The Bible is the expert -- not me.
My dear friends,
I disagree fully... no offence. I love the apologetic. As a former practicing Catholic I’ll have to take Almighty God’s Word for it instead of man made traditions that contradict to Holy Scriptures. It is all of God none of us. Saving faith will show it’s self in what we say or do (James 2:20). We work out our own salvation because we POSSESS it... not to obtain it. My former Priest (who was the dearest of men) gave me that tract you speak of. I still have it.
The bottom line is that if you or I (a broken egg) think that we can help God out for deliverance we are insane. Jesus Cried it is Finished!
My dear friends let go of you and place your 100% trust in Almighty God for salvation. Place not your trust in the Mass, the eucrest, confessing sins to a man appointed priest, indulgences, good works, sacraments etc... (these are no where found in the New Testament) (Matt 7:21-23)
No offence to you all but in sincerity I share this with you.
Romans 5:1, Eph 2:8,9,Acts 16:30,31, Romans 10:2-4
Ah, that's great.
21 Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.
This is supposed to prove Once saved-Always saved?
Read your quotes before you post them, man.
No my dear friend, you have selective reading disorder.... I stated more than that.
Many dear sincere people trust in their tradition, personal views of the Bible and etc.. And NEVER know the True Christ of Scripture.. They have another Jesus. That verse (matt 7:21-23) was a warning to you who believe out side the Word of God in love.
Ignorance of the Scriptures (Bible) is Ignorance of Christ.

What makes you think I disagree with that? It is a Catholic saint who said that, by the way.
You are correct ScubieNuc......There is no such place as purgatory....Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith....The great High Priest.....And thank God for “The Love Of Christ Which Passeth All Understanding”.....
“If Thou Shalt Confess With Thy Mouth The Lord Jesus, And Believe In Thy Heart That God Hath Raised Him From The Dead, Thou Shalt Be Saved......
The Apostle Paul warned us of those who preach any other doctrine.....How the simplicity of the gospel is perverted in so many ways baffles me......Christ spoke of Heaven and Hell.....NOT PURGATORY.....
