Maddy, a 16-year-old Christian (former homeschooler), won over Simon Cowell and the panel of judges in auditions with the song Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen and with her incredible back story as the ninth out of twelve kids (including four brothers with Down Syndrome three of whom were adopted).
...It gets even better. Since discovering Maddy through American Idol, we found out that she and her family live just a few minutes from Patrick Henry College, and many of our friends here know her. Everyone weve talked to testify to Maddys incredible heart for the Lord and amazing singing ability.
...Suffice to say, well be following American Idol this year. More specifically, well be following Maddy Curtis, voting for her if she makes through, and praying God would keep using this young lady as a bright light of faith in Him and love for family.

I remember Maddy.
I missed the first 4 seasons of the show, assuming it was a total waste of time.
Then I caught the last show of the season that Carrie Underwood won and I had to admit she was very good.
I’ve watched ever since.
Some years are better than others, but it’s always entertaining and a break from serious matters.
This year’s debut of Larry Platt and his “Pants on the Ground” song was priceless. Too bad he’s way over the age limit.
Say it loud “I watch Idol and I’m proud”.
LOL
I wish Maddie all the best. I hope she does well. My problem is I think American Idol is just another example of the dumbing down of America. I believe this stupid show belongs on MTV.

Not an ‘Idol’ viewer but Maddy’s talent is worth checking out. May God bless her and her family in their witness to Him.
I was proud never to have watched Idol for 4 seasons. But then our family started watching, and it is one of the few things you can watch anymore with the whole family. It’s fun, and the cast of characters was amusing. There are some seriously talented contestants every year.
Me too. I was all “I don’t watch THAT” ,until I did watch it. I really like the first few weeks best when they show the auditions. I had no idea so many people are tone-deaf. And the way some of them try to “sing another song” as if it will be less painful for Simon and the rest! Too funny!

Bless her, this country needs more kids like that.

don’t know much about MTV do you...American Idol is good family entertainment, I work in a juvenile detention facility and we won’t even let the kids watch MTV or VH1...just olain trash
The 2007 Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, is also pro-life.
Maddy Curtis—that’s a name I will remember—and vote for!
