Exactly.
Was St. Paul cursed? Were the Christian martyrs cursed, based on the fact that they suffered?
This is just another form of prosperity gospel.

I don’t know. God does exist, and He’s free to bless certain people (such as the United States) and withhold blessing from others. Maybe he’s withheld his blessing from a country that is so enamored with the Satanic practice of voodoo. Maybe?

I *TOTALLY* agree with what you say here. We in the U.S. may have financial blessing, but as a country we have drifted from a pure faith in the Lord.

Some people see the United States as peculiarly blessed, in large part because it was founded on Christian principles by Christian men and women back in the 1500s or so, and its charter was based on Christian principles as well.

Do you really not see the United States as particularly blessed? Do you not see any correlation between our Christian founding and our relative state of blessedness?

A larger question: Does God interact with *groups* of people, either blessing them or withholding His blessing from them?

certainly there is a Biblical basis to say the disaster in Hati was God’s will. But there is nothing to suggest we can know why.

Psalm 73 answered those questions about 3,000 years ago. Blessings are not a sign of righteousness, nor is the lack a sign of unrighteousness. In all states of supply or poverty, a righteous man learns to be content and grateful (Philippians 4:10-20).

As for your "blessed" American, "Will not all of these raise up a taunt against him, with mockery and insinuations against him, and say, 'Woe to him who increases his wealth with what is not his, and makes himself rich with loans. For how much longer?' Will not your creditors rise up quickly, and those who collect from you awaken? Indeed, you will be as plunder for them." - Habakkuk 2:6

"certainly there is a Biblical basis to say the disaster in Hati was God’s will. But there is nothing to suggest we can know why."

The Scriptures give the right answer to how to react to the disasters of others:

Lk:13:4: "Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."

These things are really warnings for others.

I.e. us.

The Haitians will have to examine their conscience an we ours.

Regards.

Go here to donate to Catholic Relief Services -- CRS -- (secure site) -- they do not have the overhead for office, etc. that Red Cross does, and you know that your MONEY does not support abortions!
