Pray for our American Heroes
January 9, 2010 | Irish Rose

Who will rise up for me against the wicked?
Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
Unless the LORD had given me help,
I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
When I said, "My foot is slipping,"
your love, O LORD, supported me.
When anxiety was great within me,
your consolation brought joy to my soul.
(Psalm 94:16-19)

Dear Lord, we give You thanks for another day of Your grace. Hear us, Father, as we pray in the Name of Christ.

Lord, we pray for our military, wherever and however they serve. We pray for their protection from harm, and their final victory over their enemies. Please bring those who serve in Iraq and Afghanistan home in triumph and honor.

Father, we pray for Your church in Egypt, which has come under renewed persecution. They are Your people, Lord; rise up for them against the wicked, and let Your love support them.

Lord, we pray for Rifqa Bary. We thank You, Father, that You saved her and brought her into Your kingdom. Now she is in danger on account of Your Name, and we ask that You would take a stand for her against any who would harm her. Lord, we pray that You would encourage her, that Your consolation would bring her joy.

Father, Your glory has been proclaimed throughout the earth, and in heaven the angels always praise You. Morning by morning You dispense justice, and You delight to show mercy. You are the refuge of the helpless, a Father to the fatherless and a defender of widows. We are glad in Your love and we honor You, in the Name of Our Lord Jesus, Amen.

Come and pray.

Rifqa Bary is a seventeen-year-old Christian who fled from her Muslim parents after her father threatened to kill her. Muslim women are often murdered by their families in honor-killings, and violence against Christians is a well-known phenomenon in the Islamic world. You can learn more about Rifqa and her plight here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2420767/posts.

Dear Father
We pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world, especially in Egypt.
We thank You profoundly for our precious Troops who have brought the Blessings of Freedom to the most people in the History of Our Planet.
We ask that You protect and defend them and give them everything they need to achieve the victory.

Be with Rifqa as she travails for the sake of Your Name.
In Jesus name We pray
Amen

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!

Dear God, who suffered
torment, agony and death upon the Cross
to free our souls from the chains of iniquity;
protect and defend our troops. Guide them in
the performance of their duties. Strengthen
them to endure hardship, danger and depri-
vation in Your service. Let their efforts free
the people of Iraq and Afghanistan from the
chains of terror and slavery, foster a lasting
peace in the region, and bring all to a greater
share in Your Mercy.
Amen.

Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever; for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them who know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter.

Daniel 2:20-23

Fear Of The Unknown
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called . . . . And he went out, not knowing where he was going. —Hebrews 11:8

Has God ever asked you to do something that seemed unreasonable? Something that took you into the territory of the unknown? What if He asked you to refuse a long-awaited promotion or resist a longed-for relationship? What if He called you to a remote part of the world or asked you to release your children to serve Him in a faraway place?

The unknown is full of haunting “what ifs.” Yet God often calls us to chart unknown territory as we follow Him. Obeying His commands to forgive, to give away our treasures, or to give up things that provide security and pleasure often leave us in the scary territory of unknown outcomes.

Imagine how Abraham felt when God asked him to move his whole family without telling him where they were going (Gen. 12:1-3). God also asked Abraham to persevere—to stay in an unknown land even when the lure of past comforts may have threatened to seduce him and his family back to their comfort zone in Ur.

Entering a new year is like entering uncharted territory. The fear of the unknown could cripple our capacity to follow God’s leading through the days ahead. Yet, like Abraham, when we cling to the One who knows all things, we’re in good hands—regardless of where He leads.

Many things about tomorrow
I don’t seem to understand;
But I know who holds tomorrow,
And I know who holds my hand. —Stanphill

Never be afraid to entrust the unknown future to the all-knowing God.

Bible in One Year: Genesis 23-24; Matthew 7

My appreciation for your fellowship and prayers; may God's blessings be with you.

For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile — the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him. (Romans 10:12)

Thank you so much for posting this Thread.

I share it with non-FReeper Christian email friends, hoping they will join FR and become prayer warriors with us.

Even if the don’t join FR, they read the page and pray with us, so it’s all good.
