Awakened from a Saturday doze with a start, I ran to the kitchen to see whay my wife was so excited about. While checking her Facebook, she had clicked on a Google ad that said Jesus was born on June 17th. " I knew there was a reason we were married on that day!", she said. The link went on to explain the allignment of planets that could account for a bright star in the night sky...read more...

Given the fact that He created everything, including whatever science discovers, I doubt that He “needs” science...
We need it. It is our responsibility to learn about His world and live within it.
BINGO!
We can do some remarkable things with scientific methods (like keeping a severed head alive) but don’t need to go down every road.
Wouldn’t we all still be living in it even if we didn’t know? Ancient man didn’t know what we know now, and he lived in it.
That’s the part some just don’t understand. God needs NO ONE. We need HIM. Those talking heads can speak global warming and write books and have conferences (in the snow I might add) all they want but...what THEY do will have NO BEARING on anything. GOD is the one who determines what will be. Good, bad or indifferent...doesn’t matter. GOD determines what will be since He was the one who created everything to start with.
I would tell some people to get some kind of belief...religion or whatever they want to call it. I personally think they would have much calmer and more positive lives.
Are we talking about the same God who invented Planck’s constant, Boltzman’s constant, the gravitational constant, etc? The same God who came up with a scientific way to make ice float? The same God who put us on a planet that was ideal for discovery?
Gods wonders surround us. And these marvels reveal much about our Creator. Through creation we glimpse His power and wisdom, His majesty and care. Creation is speaking to those who will listen
Join us on a remarkable journey of discovery as we explore the Creators handiwork and what His creation reveals about His character. Survey the unimaginable size of the universe and ponder the vast energy present in all matter. Examine the elegant water molecule essential to all life and discover how God combines these molecules to form beautiful and symmetrical snow crystals. Learn about the incredible complexity of DNA and the miraculous workings of the tiny seed. From the design functionality of birds to the incredible transformation of butterflies, these and many other features of creation are highlighted in this visually stunning presentation.
God of Wonders is a breath-taking tour of Gods creation wonders, visible and invisible, and the greatest wonder of all His redeeming love!
Sure, he lived, but he also died young and lived harshly. Through the ages man has learned more and more to keep himself alive and to live better.
God is a real God who created a real universe. All that we know or will ever be capable of knowing is infinitesimally minuscule compared to what there is to know about God’s creation. So, to put it another way, does God need our method for learning the little bit we are capable of learning(?). This question calls to mind the inherent flaw of gnosticism. How much knowledge does it take to impress God? Science is for our benefit, one way we can understand God and the universe He has created.
Often a brutal and short existence, but yes, he did "live" in it. Many utilized the brain that God gave them (and the inspiration He often gave them) to realize industrial, scientific and medical advancements.
I agree, too bad man hasn’t learned to live without wars and hatred.
Nah. He can CLEP out and then take a humanities or writing course.
Too bad man also applied those things to making war and killing oters.
Are there any conservatives who consider themselves atheists, I wonder?
Lack of progress in spiritual matters does not negate real progress in other areas.
War is not over, but an argument can be made that more men are free today because we’ve found efficient ways to kill would-be dictators.
Don’t know what the future will bring.
Agreed. But even among the animal kingdoms, species wage war among themselves and other species. Territory means something at least at some level.
From insects all the way up to water buffalo.
And we've been saddled with several political ideologies that seek to see everyone "fall in line" whether they are Communist, Socialist, Fascist, or political Islam. Nazism got cast on the junk heap of history but plenty of other bad ideas, responsible for millions upon millions of deaths, are still pushed on the people of nations around the world.
The only thing God needs is souls to fill his Kingdom in Heaven.
Actually, quite a few here consider themselves atheist or agnostic. I don’t agree with them on that topic, of course, but each individual must find his own way. All we can do otherwise is bear witness.
