Jesus was born a homeless child

I took my mom to church last night (Roman Catholic) and was amazed that the last song the choir sang before mass was "Jesus was born a homeless child". Is this now considered a Christmas song?

Gee, I was taught by the Sisters of Mercy and the Jesuits.

IIRC, Joseph and Mary had to travel to register for a Census.

They were NOT homeless.

If it happened today, Jesus may have been born in a taxi.

Joseph and Mary had a perfectly good home in Nazareth. However Caesar Augustus, ruler of the Roman Empire, decreed that all the world should be taxed, to celebrate the 750th anniversary of the founding of the city of Rome. So the Holy family had to make the 250 mile journey, on foot, from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Once there, they were refused a room at the inn as every other member of the House of David was there as well, to fill out forms for the Roman government.
If that weren’t enough, King Herod became leery of the news of a new King being born in Bethlehem, and dealt with it in his usual manner. Mary and Joseph had to flee to Egypt, another hike of about 250 miles. They only returned once they had heard that Herod had died
If anything the last thing the Holy family would have wanted was more attention from the government

Jesus wasn’t homeless because Joseph, His human stepfather, wasn’t homeless. Joseph’s home was in Nazareth where he was known as a carpenter. Joseph took his little family to Bethlehem at the direction of the Roman government, to participate in a census. Everyone was directed to go to the male head of the household’s hometown.

So, even if they were in Bethlehem, Joseph had relatives there.

The new Roman Dictatorship existed after the usurper Julius Caesar took power from the Roman Senate, just like Obama, Augustus Caesar later on had to get his taxes. The Dictator had to tax to help the homeless, right? The Roman run economy probably drove the Inns out of business? Nothing new under the Sun.

There is no room for the Christ Spirit in man's world. Mankind tries to be as god and has no true home for God to rest His head on earth.

...with NO health insurance.

Guess what? THEY DIDN’T expect the government to take care of that problem!

Joseph and Mary weren’t any more homeless, than any of us who have to make a trip and stay in a hotel overnight. No, Joseph and Mary made the trip to PAY THEIR TAXES.

As with many anti-Jesus sayings
“it was winter so he was walking on an iceberg”
“it was summer so the heat (in the middle of a storm) made sand look like water”
“Jesus became a father”
“there was wine concentrate in the new jars that water was poured into at the wedding”
“Jesus did not feed 5k people, they had their own food”
I would not care if these stories were true, but the Bible clearly states that they are NOT true. What is frustrating for those of us who are Bible reading Christians is to see people, often non-Christians, refer to these fallacies with no evidence other than they are scientifically impossible.

Duh, that’s why they are called miracles!
As for homeless Jesus, well, it’s really just a tool for the religious left to steal the “Christian vote”, whatever that is.

Technically Jesus was homeless until he died on the cross, at which time he became a first time homeowner. Unfortunately he still has to deal with squatters, (which will happen in the near future.) Merry Christmas.

Jesus was not homeless when born.
Joseph and Mary went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, where Joseph was from, to register for the census and there was no room for them in the city except for the stall where Jesus was born.

He had a home, a mother and a father and was perfectly cared for.
See verse 4 & 5 as to the explanation.

This idea being put forth by liberals that he was homeless is not true.

Luke 2:1-7

1. Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.

2. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.

3.And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.

4. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,

5.in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.

6. While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.

7. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Lemme guess - - Mary and Joseph went to the welfare office, registered Democrat, and immediately began collecting food stamps, welfare, WIC, a Section 8 housing subsidy and, of course, SSI “crazy checks” for the incorrigible Jesus?

It’s just that the family was forced to take a road trip for the census.

...and that was due to "Big" Government.

By their definition, everybody doing Christmas traveling over 15 hours by car, who stops at a rest stop to nap in their vehicle, must be homeless

This stupid song and the sentiment behind it demonstrate leftist ignorance about Christ and Christianity.

Thank you Jesus, and may all this family here have the joy of living in your Kingdom.

In addition to Jesus not being homeless when he was born, later when the Magi found him they brought gifts fit for a king.

I don’t think that these guys traveled all that distance to give meager gifts to someone they’d waited their whole lives to see.

In my mind, the Magi brought substantial gifts and Jesus’ family would have never been impoverished.

We need to write another song - it’s equally as valid, perhaps moreso - about Joseph forgetting to guarantee his room reservation on his American Express card. Rush has argued this repeatedly.

Many people do not grasp the subtle distinction between simply taking a trip and being an immigrant. No doubt your priest has that problem as well.

Ask him someday if he's ever visited a foreign country and did he bother to get a visa or did he just slip in.

And no, Jesus wasn't homeless. His Father provided him and his brothers and sisters (by a previous marriage I am sure) with fine homes ~ he had many places to visit. He even identified the way his disciples might identify suitible homes ~ SEE: Mark 6, 1-6, 7-13: Matthew 13, 54-58; 9, 35-38; 10, 5-42: Luke 9, 1-6.

God on Earth is homeless, if at all, by choice ~ the truly homeless have no choice in the matter.

And wheeled about in a grocery cart.

Not homeless: his parents were following a stupid government edict.

Tell the priest that if you believe Jesus was born into a homeless situation, perhaps it would have been better for Mary to have had an abortion and see his reaction.

If he’s going to be liberal....go all the way.
