DWTS alum Joanna Krupa nude angel PETA ads condemned by The Catholic League

PETA's new "Be an Angel for Animals" campaign is off to a controversial start with The Catholic League clearly upset that Joanna Krupa appears semi-nude while holding a rosary in one advertisement, and completely nude with a strategically placed cross in another. Adorned with feathery angel wings and a glowing halo in both photos, she floats above a sea of happy dogs within a church cathedral for the "cross" photo, and holds her canine companion Rugby in the "rosary" shoot .

In a December 1st news release, The Catholic League called PETA "animal killers" and "a fraud" that "exploits Christian symbols." They also state: "despite a budget of $32 million, PETA does not operate an adoption shelter."

In response, Joanna Krupa released a statement saying "It's understandable that the Catholic League is wary of another sex scandal, but the sex we're talking about pertains to dogs and cats." (Keep in mind that she is a model and not a writer so she is most likely not implying any form of beastiality.)

She goes on to say: "As a practicing Catholic, I am shocked that the Catholic League is speaking out against PETA ads, which I am very proud of. I'm doing what the Catholic Church should be doing, working to stop senseless suffering of animals, the most defenseless of god's creation. I am a voice for innocent animals who are being neglected and dumped by the millions at shelters. In my heart I know that Jesus would never condone the suffering that results when dogs and cats are allowed to breed."

A practicing Catholic would not allow herself to be photographed in a scene like that. I wonder if she realizes that is Jesus Christ crucified that she is holding against her nude body as she appears to be raising animals to the same level as human beings. So, animals have a soul, animals can reason, animals have a free will? No rocket scientist is she.

She’s not an angel but only a misguided slut on her way to hell.

Put a pile of aborted fetuses under her feet and the caption abortion is murder. Humans take pre eminence over animals and until that “practicing” catholic does that, this ad is offensive. Sorry, much as I love animals, my own species is more important to me....

For crying out loud, she’s from Poland. Have you been to Poland? I’ve seen worse road signs.

To be quite honest, the things sold around Lourdes as religious items are more offensive than this. At least she is trying to get people to adopt pets instead of just make a quick buck. Is she a little confused by joining up with PETA? Sure, but she’s a model and models aren’t exactly known for their brains.

Why do you think PETA does it? Because they know someone will get peeved and it will get all over the news. Either let it go as ignorance or appreciate the pretty lady.

Agree...shock value ad and we will all buy into it...like Tiger Woods, gate crashers and a dozen other things to take our minds off death care and cap and tax.

Thread should die now...but YMMV.

It's a tastless and offensive ad.
About what you'd expect from the people who sponsored it.

But be careful in your analysis because a whole lot of my attitude is based pecisely on:
"(Only humans) can reason, (only humans) have a free will".

So far as we know, other animals do not possess those advantages.
They don't have choice.

As to "...animals have a soul(?)"
I'll side with Mark Twain:
"Heaven goes by favor; if it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in."

Mark Twain was very corrupt and evil - he ridiculed Christians like Satan’s right hand man.

So, animals have a soul

Yes. Or do you believe in the communist theory of "matter in motion"?

animals can reason

Some animals certainly can. Chimps, rats, crows, etc.

animals have a free will?

No, that is what makes them animals. They operate by instinct and fleshly need.

Then....

No, that is what makes them animals. They operate by instinct and fleshly need.

Personally, I think you contradicted yourself. The Soul is the embodiment of thought, emotion and beliefs. Seems to me you can't operate purely on instinct and have that be the result of thought, emotion and beliefs.

Likely because the Catholic church claims it is the only true church...Why would they waste their time with 62,000 fake denominations???
