there were many hate-filled hecklers with hateful signs at the entrance trying to influence impressionable teenagers. The stuff the “Christians” spewed was awful.

By any chance, do you recall some of those "hate-filled" and "awful" spewing signs the "Christians" were holding? Also, teaching Protestant apologetics is hardly instruction on how to "attack Catholics". That's just silly, woe-is-me whining!

The context does not allow you to get personal. Getting personal is your fault if you do it. Been there, done that. All I did was point out to you that you were straying into territory the RM doesn’t like much.

Anti-Jewish 17 percent. Anti-Catholic less than 5 percent. What were the other 78 percent? I would like to see a complete breakdown of the 1,519 incidents by religion and denomination.

Religious bias
Of the 1,732 victims of anti-religious hate crimes:
* 66.1 percent were targeted because of an offender’s anti-Jewish bias.
* 7.5 percent were victims because of an anti-Islamic bias.
* 5.1 percent were victims because of an anti-Catholic bias.
* 3.6 percent were victims because of an anti-Protestant bias.
* 0.8 percent were targeted because of an anti-Atheist/Agnostic bias.
* 12.8 percent were victims because of a bias against other religions (anti-other religion).
* 4.0 percent were victims because of a bias against groups of individuals of varying religions (anti-multiple religions, group). (Based on Table 1.)

There were other visitors, people less enthusiastic about the Pope. These were the anti-Catholics. On the opening day several came into Celebration Plaza carrying cloth banners suspended from the top of twelve-foot poles. The banners carried messages such as, "Come out of her my people, lest you share in her plagues (Rev. 18:4)." The protesters believed the Catholic Church to be the Whore of Babylon.

Catholics allow "science" to interpret Genesis..

I really don't think so, and that not doing so is an important point.

There's a lengthy encyclical that speaks to the difference quite well, at this link.

all while insisting that Hutton, Lyell, and Darwin trump Genesis.

Respectfully, these are non-sequitors. It's like saying: "Grey's Anatomy trumps Leviticus."

Thanks.
I wonder why the article said anti-Jewish 17% instead of 66%

Hate crimes against Catholics - 75, up from 61 in 2007.

lol. What a racket they've got. "Hate crimes" against a quasi-military outfit with more gold than Fort Knox made up of (supposedly) one billion people with its own history of bloody tyranny.

Those 75 crimes were probably Catholic on Catholic crime. Teddy Kennedy Roman Catholics against Ratzinger "global authority" Roman Catholics.

And as usual, it's unseemly for the RCC to grab victim status when anti-semitism is a very real and pervasive crime.

Catholics should not be surprised or scandelized at attacks, it comes with calling to be Catholic.

time_fulton_sheen

If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world; in other words, I would look for the Church which the world hated. My reason for doing this would be, that if Christ is in any one of the churches of the world today, He must still be hated as He was when He was on earth in the flesh. If you would find Christ today, then find the Church that does not get along with the world. Look for the Church that is hated by the world as Christ was hated by the world. Look for the Church that is accused of being behind the times, as our Lord was accused of being ignorant and never having learned. Look for the Church which men sneer at as socially inferior, as they sneered at Our Lord because He came from Nazareth. Look for the Church which is accused of having a devil, as Our Lord was accused of being possessed by Beelzebub, the Prince of Devils. Look for the Church which, in seasons of bigotry, men say must be destroyed in the name of God as men crucified Christ and thought they had done a service to God. Look for the Church which the world rejects because it claims it is infallible, as Pilate rejected Christ because He called Himself the Truth. Look for the Church which is rejected by the world as Our Lord was rejected by men. Look for the Church which amid the confusions of conflicting opinions, its members love as they love Christ, and respect its Voice as the very voice of its Founder, and the suspicion will grow, that if the Church is unpopular with the spirit of the world, then it is unworldly, and if it is unworldly it is other worldly. Since it is other-worldly, it is infinitely loved and infinitely hated as was Christ Himself. But only that which is Divine can be infinitely hated and infinitely loved. Therefore the Church is Divine.

It certainly sounds like you have a lot of dislike of the Catholic Church. Where does it really come from?

Are you a former Catholic?

Just curious.

Is is most disappointing to see the number of so called "christians" in this forum who have joined in on these attacks

That's parody, right?!?

We are called heretics, to we are not Christians, told we are racist, and when we respond we are told we are conducting hate crimes?

That's funny, no it's pathetic.

Actually it reminds me of the way the protected classes of the liberal Democratic party act.

More children have been abused by Catholic priests, but I suspect those were "love" crimes.

**Many “Christian” churches actually teach their members how to attack Catholics.**

I have also witnessed this. I cannot figure it out, unless they know that the Catholic Church is the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church against which the gates of hell will not prevail.

Do you have any answers?

I was born and raised Presbyterian. My "dislike" is not for any Roman Catholic but my "disagreement" is with any faith or doctrine which cannot be supported by Scripture. This "disagreement" with the RCC has been kindled on this forum for years as I've learned what Rome actually teaches.

God tells men to preach the Gospel in truth but there is so much in the RCC that seems to point away from Christ. Mariology; priests as "another Christ;" praying to saints; a supposedly "infallible magisterium; the usurping office of pope and an insufficient understanding of justification all diminish the finished work of Christ on the cross. Roman Catholics don't understand how off-putting this is to Protestants who believe all Christians should be more than satisfied by God's free, unmerited grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for God's glory alone.

Protestants want nothing more than for Roman Catholics to read their Bibles. The rest is up to the Holy Spirit.

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement." -- Romans 5:1-11
