At the bustling Church by the Glades in Coral Springs, pastor David Hughes usually preaches the gospel, the good news. But Sunday, the news was bad.
``There is brokenness, anger and a lot of hurt. This is an ugly story,'' Hughes told a sanctuary packed with several hundred worshipers for the 11:15 a.m. service.
The story broke Saturday when Coral Springs police arrested one of the church's youth pastors, Russell Dion Lewis, 28, and charged him with custodial battery and 10 counts of lewd and lascivious molestation.
Police said Lewis molested a 14-year-old girl and tried to rape her. Investigators added that the contact between Lewis and the girl, even if it was consensual, was illegal because of the girl's age.
Lewis was held Sunday in the Broward County jail on $20,000 bond.

You're welcome. BTW, take a look at this PDF to see a breakdown of how they dealt with it back 'in the day.'
McGreevey left the Catholic Church and became an Episcopalian. He is training to be an Episcopalian priest.
McGreevey seeking to become Episcopal priest
Not Catholic
Well, he was just a “pastor” of some local group. They couldn’t transfer him from one corner of their prayer centre to the other, could they?
Cool, let’s do that to the Calwino pastors too!
Due to your benevolence there's no doubt that you'd eventually get around to posting these links, after your Seinfeld DVDs disintegrated.
What is the position of the Protestant churches? People like you use any excuse to get in a dig against the Catholic church, including going OT on a thread about a Protestant youth minister. 3 major insurance companies for Protestant churches in the US report they get about 260 reports per year of sexual abuse against minors by church clergy and staff. Compare this to the average of ALL reports in the Catholic church of 228 peryear (all not just from 3 insurance companies) and it seems to me that the Protestant churches in the US have a much bigger abuse problem. The Catholic church has taken many steps to address the issue including implementing very strict training process for any person who deals with children in a parish.
Remember the Cardinal Law scandal? Cardinal Law was the cardinal of Boston, where broke the landmark case where the system-wide Catholic priest abuses and cover-ups were exposed. Cardinal Law was proven to have had knowlege of pedophile priests for years and was responsible for moving these men from parish to parish.
He was forced to resign in shame and disgrace in 2002. So what did "The Catholic Church" do about it?
How about a couple of cushy appointments back in the vatican?
"After his resignation, John Paul II appointed Law to a post in Rome, putting him in charge of the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, with the title of Archpriest. He is also a member of the Congregations for the Oriental Churches, the Clergy, Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, Evangelisation of Peoples, Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, Catholic Education, Bishops as well as the Pontifical Council for the Family."
Dude should have gone to prison.

Law was the archbishop of Boston, he was not the cardinal of Boston since Boston is not a titular see. Second, little was exposed that was not already known. That’s what I couldn’t figure out. This was already known. The cases were usually decades old and had often been covered in the press. Fr. Enrique had written his book in what? 1982? 1983?
“Cardinal Law was proven to have had knowlege of pedophile priests for years and was responsible for moving these men from parish to parish.”
Yes, HE was responsible. The Church was not.
“He was forced to resign in shame and disgrace in 2002. So what did “The Catholic Church” do about it?”
What could be done about cases that often even predated Law?
“How about a couple of cushy appointments back in the vatican?”
He does indeed work at the Vatican.
“Dude should have gone to prison.”
If I recall correctly, according to the attorney general in his state, he committed no punishable crime.
He’ll die in exile most likely.
I never could keep the dozens of levels of hierachy straight. Priests, archpriests, monseingnors (sp?), bishops, cardinals, archbishops, etc, etc.
Thanks, I remember much of this but he was not the only one ivolved, just the catalyst for outing.
You visualops are crazy as a bed bug.
I simply am trying to find what the Catholic Church has done to remedy a serious problem they had.
I have been completely honest and respectful.
I am sorry you can not answer questions about this problem without taking offense.
I am not anti Catholic. I am however anti Muslim pal.
I also realize this buggering problem is not unique to the Catholics, it appears that they were more active in hiding their culprits, that’s all.
Sure. If you call having your own apartments in the vatican palace and being an advisor to the pope, "exile".
Google him. You’ll be sickened.
Over 500 victims of abuse at the hands of Boston Catholic priests came forward during that investigation alone. And he knew.
I know,
I ‘ve read.
I was really just trying to find out from a Catholic what has been done to remedy that kind of crap.
Jsut as I ask a Jew why they as a group vote for a clown like Obamma who is anti Israel?
I am ignorant or these and want to know and learn and when you ask, someone wants to attack you for asking an uncomfortable question.
Yeah, this is an uncomfotable subject BUT ya gots to learn so it doesn’t repeat.
Hey Jews. Quit supporting Obamma lamma ding dong.
Well, mark me down as a FORMER Catholic please.

It can be for someone who misses home. I bet he does.
I didn’t know that.
He’s still a full-blown cardinal, with all the perks and privileges, pomp and circumstance.
