Not hardly,

Findings of councils have been changed/overturned time and time again.

That’s what makes Catholicism similar to nailing jello to a wall.

How in the world did you arrive at the conclusion the, "anti-Catholic bigots" are in fact of us? Aren't really insane leftist maniacs here to precipitate the exact reaction you've experienced? Can you not see [that]?

ROTFL! Reminds me of the Catholic poster who said last year that "many of the most strident Catholic-haters probably aren't even Evangelicals at all--they're leftist trolls in deep cover with a mission to sew division and hatred among Christians."

"The other thread types - prayer, devotional, caucus, ecumenical"

I'm glad we have those! Anyone serious is let into Caucus Threads so good dialogue can take place. Thanks for keeping order in the above mentioned threads.

I’ve never attacked Pentecostal beliefs or the Pentecostal Church or it’s leaders, ever. Unless if Pentecostal beliefs now include wild science-fiction conspiracy theories and crazed, illiterate “prophets” claiming to be God.

The “standard” of discourse is amusing, somehow the word for a baby chicken must be deleted as not to offend, put the letters “B” and “S” together and that is highly offensive but the most vile, vicious, and hate-filled THINLY VEILED personal attacks are allowed as long they aren’t directed at “you” but the Catholic Church, or “rabid cults” or whatever word games that somehow technically don’t “make it personal”. It’s laughable.

As for :”thin-skinned”. I rarely hit the abuse button, but the ones who have mastered the “rules” of insulting others fingers bleed from hitting abuse on others. They will hit abuse if you copy and paste their own words back to them! They call others stupid, uninformed, say they’re going to hell and other forms of nastiness and disrespect that must have a nastiness thesaurus to find the numerous insults they post.

The “rules” have been abused so bad it’s laughable. The attacks ARE personal in nature, but somehow these perverse rules of the religion forum turn it into an embarrassment.

OK Al, and you find great amusement with [that] why?
Indulge me.

Since I was eternally predestined to do so, thanking me is pointless. God does everything. We are His robots. Beep boop beep beep.

On the FR Opus scale I rate yours a solid 8.

Direct and to the point.

Well done!

Good luck.

"Findings of councils have been changed/overturned time and time again."

That depends on what kind of council was held. There are seven types.

If a Freeper believed that God is a rubber duck, he'd still have a place to enter his testimony on the Religion Forum.

The "open" threads exist so that RF posters can declare, challenge or even ridicule beliefs.

Whenever one belief spawns from another, both CONDEMN each other in the harshest terms they can muster: anathema, cult, apostate, heretic, Satanic, etc. Those attitudes often become part of the official or holy documents/doctrines.

The "open" threads are a town square and allow posters to air these grievances. It often is contentious. That is why thin skinned posters are the trouble-makers on open Religion Forum threads.

Frequently the believers who complain the loudest about the "antis" actually embrace doctrines which hold the antis' beliefs in official contempt. It is rare to find "clean hands" in open theological debate.

Also, most of the RF posters understand the difference between personal contempt/antagonism - and contempt/antagonism directed a religious belief, deity, religious authority or writer.

If you don't get the difference, you should stay away from the "open" Religion Forum threads altogether.

I can and do intervene to keep posters from "making it personal" - there is nothing I can do to keep posters from taking it personally.

Judith,

See this all a result of VatII and it's existentialist philosophy and it's equally ugly twin sister Identity Poltics. Your so wrapped up in your group identity and feel so oppressed that non-Romanists will not accept your difference.

An OPUS is merely vanity in which you can have an Oprah moment and share your pain with other Freepers.

This is why Romanism is synonymous with Liberalism

I FReepmailed the Admin Moderator and asked for my login to be deleted.

Perhaps there is one more thing I can do to get my membership ended: deliberately get myself banned. If all else fails, I’ll resort to that. Trust me, it will be enjoyable.

If you don’t get the difference, you should stay away from the “open” Religion Forum threads altogether.

_____________

I get the “difference”, I just think it’s ridiculous, it’s not about being mad or thin skinned, it’s about the convoluted “rules” and “standard” of discourse on those threads.

I can reply to “you” and call you stupid, ignorant, and idolator and a heretic and a pedophile as long as the personal attack includes the qualifier that I’m not really talking about “you” just people who follow your religion. That’s not “making it personal” Suuurre.

Are you upset that the “rubber duck” posters haven’t been posting? The “rubber duck” crowd only alienates sane posters, and outright slander is tolerated as long as the poster believes he’s God?!?! Other posters are allowed to post outright lies with no retractions, make claims that the Catholic Church (or others) advocates all kinds of heresy and degradation, and even when that claim is proven to be a fabrication it’s allowed to stand, the poster of said lies must not apologize or print a retraction, all in the name of “religion”.

The Religion Forum needs to repent and re think it’s standards.

I don’t spend much time on reiligious threads where folks seem to fight about all manner of stuff and yes I have seen some posters claim Catholics are church of satan in Rome...that sort of thing...a few.

I have also seen openly Catholic posters deride non Catholics just as hard.

It’s all silly to me, your non religious posting is quite nice and you are to be commended.

I sure wish Catholics voted per their instruction in significant numbers...that would cure all our problems.

I realize that the FReligion forum is not always the most edifying place a Christian can find themselves in, but good things do happen here. And yes, God is glorified here, though not in every thread.

It is wise to ignore all of the advice given in this thread for too many have their own motives in mind. Instead you should act on what God is telling you to do, and if that means leaving FR, so be it. You know yourself better than any of us ever will and you know what is best for you.

I am not a Catholic, but I offer my sincere prayers that God will guide you in all things and that He may heal the hurt that we have inflicted upon you. May your heart be strengthened and may you grow in His Grace.

Your departure is our loss. May God bless you and your family.

No one is forcing you to use your account.

If I were to reset your cookies, no one would be forcing you to log in again.

If I were to “ban” your account at your request, there would be no just cause to ban you again as a retread if you logged in under a different name.

Your case is a matter of self-control.

If you want to be forever banned then you would need to grossly violate Free Republic policy. You'd have to swear to be a racist, Marxist, pro-abortionist or violent person.

I respect you too much to believe you would make any such statement.
