On October 30, atheist Christopher Hitchens appeared on Dennis Millers Internet radio show condemning Mother Teresa, yet again. Here is one of his choice statements: The woman was a fanatic and a fundamentalist and a fraud, and millions of people are much worse off because of her life, and its a shame there is no hell for your bitch to go to.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue responded today:
I once told Hitchens that one of the real reasons he hates Mother Teresa has to do with his socialist ideology: he believes the state should care for the poor, not voluntary organizations, and he especially loathes the idea of religious ones servicing the dispossessed. Indeed, he sees in Mother Teresa the very embodiment of altruism, a virtue he cannotwith good reasonfully comprehend.
The fact of the matter is that socialism is the greatest generator of poverty known to mankind, and Mother Teresa did more to heal and rescue its victims than anyone in the modern era. This explains why she is adored by the people who knew her bestthe men and women of India (she is second only to Gandhi as the nations most revered person).
Hitchens is positively obsessed by Mother Teresa, and that is a very telling commentary on his psyche. She is a constant reminder that reason without faith is a dark hole.

Is Hitchen pro-abortion?
But I’ll bet he loves Obama.
< sigh > hitchens is roaring drunk again...
Where's the beef?
How many dying lepers has Hitchens carried off a street and soothed and nursed?
I’m sure Mother would give him his last drink of water if she were here today....
I disagree with Donahue’s imputation of “reason” to Christopher Hitchens. But the rest of it I agree with!
Man, you have to be one d@—ed d-bag to curse out Mother Teresa. His demons must be so many they have to time-share.
What a pathetic little man. How horrible to think those things of another human being who used her life for God’s glory.
Hitchens needs our prayers, for he is certainly a man in desperate need of the God he refuses to acknowledge.
I think Hitchens says he prefers to go there... more interesting people and all that jazz.
Good point. He just stands on the sidelines and whines.
A pompous hate-filled man.....
There is a difference between a program that feeds the belly and one that points people toward God.
Put a man on the dole and a decade later he’s still on the dole. Teach him to look up and his life will be transformed and in turn the lives that surround him too.
Its the difference between treating a condition versus healing it.
Ignore him. He’s only being as over-the-top as he can imagine to get attention.
One would think an atheist would change his first name. I find it comical that his parents named him Christopher which means “Bearer of Christ”. I hope Mr. Hitchens likes barbecue a lot!
He’d fit right in with those “beautiful people”,i’d say....
Last I checked, the only thing Hitchens hugged and picked up from the ground, bathed and fed, was that alcohol habit.
Where are his groups of journos picking up the dying and taking care of them?
Until he can go do what she did, he can shut it.
Careful with this one. Was Mother Teresa engaged in economic activity, or God-led loving activity?
Was she trying to save souls? Or merely trying to clothe and feed the poor? Or commiting herself to good works?
Hitchens is of course a douche-bag, but be careful how we analyze Mother Teresa.
