>>However, this overlooks the fact that the Holy Family was the most decidedly ABNORMAL family in all of history.<<

Based on what? What do we know of Jesus’ childhood?

I must re-iterate that it matters not

You are not God, nor do you have any authority over His Church.

" The hypothetical question does not fit."

I only posed the hypothetical because you and others claimed "God would choose someone else” if Mary said No.

How exactly would you have been saved without Mary?
Your post 47 states: “God would have chosen someone else.”

Apparently your idea of God's plan involves Him getting "do-overs"

Not accurate in the slightest.

It wasn’t being stonded to death that I thought was funny. It was clutching at logical straws that I thought was funny.

If we were medieval theologians, we could ask, “Did God choose someone else and get turned down before Mary?”

But realistically, it is hard to suggest, based on God’s knowing the future, that He asked someone who might say no.

Not that I’m suggesting Mary was the kind of girl who couldn’t say no...

Thank you for the response.

When did the first Reformer deny that mary was a perpetual virgin? And who was it? Are there Protestants who still believe that she was a perpetual virgin?

Thanks for pointing that out.

And I agree! :)

Please tell me how it DOES matter though...

You’re going back to the hypothetical question.

So, back at you: How exactly would you have been saved without Judas?

Don’t know who was the first Reformer...maybe Wycliffe, although I haven’t read what he wrote. Luther & Calvin accepted it, which speaks more to their feelings than their minds.

I guess we’ll agree to disagree then.

We know that the Holy Family is the ONLY family in history to have God living with them, so yes that is demonstrably abnormal.

We also know that there are NO CHILDREN mentioned in chapter 2 of the Gospel of Saint Luke.

“Don’t tell me you don’t belive in Hell!!!”

It is a whole new can of worms. The argument starts with the two sides coming to some sort of agreement on what the word “hell” actually means. I leave it to another thread. Heck, go to the thread I linked to. I’ll be happy to respond there. :)

You can’t have obedience without consent.

Yep. And how was Jesus (who was fully man) as a child, decades before he was baptized? We don’t know, other than the stories actually in the bible. And I remember something about his parents being upset with him for not telling them where he was.

“We also know that there are NO CHILDREN mentioned in chapter 2 of the Gospel of Saint Luke”

I don’t understand the relevance of that. I know lots of married couples with one, or no, kids. Although I don’t have a camera in their bedroom, I suspect they are having sex from time to time.
