The sweeping of the penduluum's timing is poised before my throne as a gravitational pull holds you to earth , so the hearts of my children are laid before me and as no other time before my humble servants are about to enter into an opened door revealed only to the few( obedient) , the Chosen(overcomers) and this door is an entryway into not only the all of me but the paradise of my love abiding ,eternal , flowing yet existing in a dimension of reality of my kingdom to the obedient alone .

For truly this is the greatness opened to who I am in a manifold manner and mannah(word) of true revelatory power and kingdom of overcomers "free" to those deserving through the sacrifice of my ways " Obedience !"

The Religion Forum Moderator had a difficult situation that day, and handled it beautifully. That is one thankless job. Except most of us on the RF know how difficult it is, and respect the care that the RM takes to be fair and honest.

Thanks for the info on General Chat also having caucus threads, that, I did not know.

It’s been many years since I have seen the RM suppress any particular religious thought. Back around 2005 and 2006, that was the case, but not since then.

It wasn’t a caucus thread on General Chat, it was a prayer request placed in the wrong forum. I would be very surprised to ever see a caucus thread in General Chat. The RM simply moved it to the correct forum.

AFAIK, religious arguments are not allowed on prayer request threads.

Well it was a Bloggers/Personal Chat thread. About 100 replies. It was a healthy debate over prayers to saints.

 

But....  The RM got offended. And zotted it.

 

So. What I'm saying - again - is anytime, anywhere.... If the RM disagrees... end of discussion.

I've let a few "Jed Threads" roll by without reading them. Has anybody yet given any better answer than "just because" to the question of why we should regard J. specifically and his ilk generally as genuine prophets of God?

No answers have been provided, but three methodologies have been offered up:

"You can't judge them. Only a prophet can discern if another is a prophet." (Marysecretary, IIRC)

"You can't judge them. Only his local congregation can decide if a prophecy is true." (Quix)

"You can judge them. Deuteronomy 13 & 18 say a prophet needs to be orthodox and 100% accurate, or else he's not a prophet." (yours truly)

It was a request for prayers that a brand new poster had placed in General/Chat by mistake, instead of in the Religion Forum.

I opened a new thread in the Religion Forum for that prayer request. Religious debate is not allowed on the Religion Forum on prayer request threads.

If you whine and complain too much on an "open" thread in the Religion Forum, you will be instructed to leave. Thick skin is required for open theological debate in the RF (town square format.)

Concerning the Blogged prayer request - it was posted by a newbie. An oldtimer came to the newbie's rescue because the behavior on a prayer request would have driven a newcomer away.

I instructed the oldtimer (Judith Anne as I recall) to repost the prayer request on the RF where it would be protected from debate of any kind. Your attempt to link back to the debate thread was removed on that basis, no debate of any kind.

You may have noticed that the moderators have encouraged volunteer Freepers to welcome newcomers and show them the ropes around here. Everything that happened with this newcomer was consistent with that Free Republic objective.

Only the Religion Forum has a designated moderator and there are special guidelines which apply only to the RF. This is necessary because religious issues are extremely sensitive and they cause resentments within the "family" of conservatism.

The different thread types are to assure that every Freeper has a niche to express, discuss or debate his religious beliefs.

I guess I think that it is impossible to maintain perfect neutrality on questions of this kind. It's not just because people are fallible, it's because the exercise of judgment presumes a particular point of view. I'm not sure an angel could do the job of RM as you would like it to be done.

And let the record show that I have gone up against the RM. I'm not sucking up here; I think it's the nature of the problem.

Finally I get it. And I’m sorry for being so slow. I had the gall to think a newbie asking for help and comfort was looking for help and comfort. I forgot the reason for threads is so we call all revel in the glory that is the Gospel of Responsibility2nd.
