A petition to the Federal Communications Commissioner (FCC) to investigate popular conservative commentators such as Rush Limbaugh for purported "hate speech" has caused a stir among Catholic circles after it was revealed that the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' (USCCB) communications office is backing the initiative.
One conservative commentator has even cited evidence that the religious coalition behind the petition, of which the USCCB communications office is a part, may be affiliated with the federal government's recent campaign against conservative media.
"So We Might See," a group billing itself as a national interfaith coalition against hate speech in media, is calling on supporters to sign a letter to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski urging him to open a notice of inquiry into "hate speech" among the media establishment.

Stuff like this makes me question ecumenism sometimes.
they’re going after rush........
Here’s what we start doing.
We get all the Chris Matthews clips, we get the Olbermann clips, we get all the libs making their insane statements, and we start flooding the FCC with hate speech and offensive statements. We play their game. Start collecting them, cataloging them, and then start filing. Get others who are of like mind to start filing them. We need to start holding the libs’ feet to the fire. Nancy Pelosi said people need to be held accountable for their words. Let’s tell them we are reporting these libs because Nancy said so.
We have to use the very tactics they want to use against us. They make no qualms about doing it, then go run to the sympathetic media to whine about how hurt and fearful they were, and of course this fits the media’s template and they’re more than happy to report it.
So We Might See
“Rev. Guess holds a number of leadership position within the faith community and among religious communicators. Specifically, Guess is chair of the news and media relations committee of the National Council of Churches Communications Commission; a member of the board of governors of the Religion Communicators Council; and a member of Associated Church Press and the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association.”

They went after Michael Savage and no one cared and his cohorts in the conservative talk show genre did not come to his defense, except for Mike McConnell. They have only just begun silencing criticism (whether on radio, TV or internet). Freedom of speech is under attack and those most apt to be under the scutiny of Obama's appointed czar and the FCC will only pay attention to it when it affects them specifically it appears. I have heard Savage defending Fox News regarding the war against them, although Fox News has been pretty much silent regarding Savage. I realize he's not their cup of conservative tea, but this is bigger than that picture and it is essential for ALL conservatives to stand together against this attack against freedom of conservative (and ALL) speech.
But...but...I'm told that Pope Benedict isn't a closet liberal!
I attend a Catholic Church with my wife ( I am not Catholic and she is ). There is a part of the mass where they pray for “world leaders to work together to distribute the worlds wealth to the poor”...(or something to this effect). This one always gets my brow twitching.
I wouldn`t have any problem with a prayer “for all of us to be more vigilant in distributing our God given wealth to the poor around the world”.
I am slowly moving toward attending another church without my wife. I have visited a couple so far. I did tell her this may happen before we married though.
Wow. So the First Amendment doesn’t guarantee the right to “hate speech” (whatever that is), but it guarantees the right to create and/or distribute porn?
“but it guarantees the right to create and/or distribute porn?”
and the right to conspire, create and distribute leftist slander against conservative media...apparently
I am going to suppose it is from the same idiots who do the movie reviews. I say idiot because they have certainly shown a tendency to jettison Catholic moral teaching when giving their opinions.
but it guarantees the right to create and/or distribute porn?

I guess it all comes down to "free speech" being a privilege of the "thesis of history" as it performs its "historic mission"--and no rights at all for the "antithesis."
Closet liberal??? Only to the ignorant and wicked; to the rest of us he is simply Catholic.
How about an even swap. The High Church Anglicans cross the Tiber and Catholics like these cross the Channel.
I have no doubts that the Obama administration set this up in preparation for some move they want to make. Too bad the Catholic church is so entrenched in liberalism. They speak conservative words, but the money flows to the liberal charities that promote every type of liberal crap.
