***MarkBsnr, I guess you think Jedediah and Quix stink? Praise God!***

What would lead you to think that I think that Quix stinks?

***To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?***

17
For we are not like the many who trade on the word of God; but as out of sincerity, indeed as from God and in the presence of God, we speak in Christ.

Superimposing hostile alien forces upon Scripture is not speaking in Christ.

***And . . . it seems noses work both directions.***

Uncertified claims made repeatedly as if they were certified and then claimed to be certified by the immense number of those claims are normally made by those who are, well, certifiable.

***you do
THOROUGHLY WRONG
SOOOOOOOO
WELL!***

The fact remains that you have never ever given proofs to your alien claims. The websites that you occasionally refer to talk just like you do. When I try to find out in detail what the claims or experiences are, they are as nebulous as Obama’s economic policies. Since nothing is there, one must assume that nothing is exactly what the alien claims are all about.

And the venom. No one else comes close and no other topic generates even close to the venom I do on this forum with this topic. Very curious. What’s with that?

Alamo-Girl is an old timer, I’ll ask her.

The most heated threads end up in the Smoky Backroom.

There was a time that the majority of Crevo threads ended up there. And to this day, Civil War and Kosovo threads often end up there.

In my view the heat that follows your subjects is more like the current Crevo war, theological disputes, Apple v Microsoft war, the Shroud of Turin war or the Pit Bull war. They can become heated but not bad enough to be moved to the Smoky Backroom.

Indeed, it seems to me that many of the theological-related disputes are like that. The issues between non-LDS and LDS cannot be resolved, ditto for non-Catholic and Catholic, Dispensationalism and Preterism and so on.

Every mortal suffers from the "observer problem." We see the world from our own eyes and cannot see it from the other guy's eyes. And when the other guy cannot not see or refuses to acknowledge that we actually do see what we see, it is exasperating.

Feelings get hurt. And even more sadly, people - even Christians - are slow to apologize and to forgive.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. - Ephesians 4:32

Wise observations, as usual.

Maybe I’m too grandiose to think there’s some added spiritual/emotional kick in these for some reason.

Appreciate your assessment.

Hi Quix. I must say that I find all of it fascinating and indeed possible. I have never known anyone, nor have I experienced anything to do with ufos, aliens, etc., but why would anyone simply reject the possibilty knowing who and what God is and has done?
Thanks for the interesting information!!

Whoa, hold on, please. Stop the thread, I have some questions.

I have never seen Civil War threads or Kosovo threads. What are they *over*?

Let me make sure I have a feel for the others.

non-LDS and LDS, I didn't know there were flame wars over that, other than sneers at Romney.

Dispensationalism -- that means (roughly) God is held to restrict his types / means of interactions with people to specific forms (more or less) in different eras, e.g. "miracles" and such were to give the Early Church a leg up, but since then have become much rarer, etc. And othes say, "no, God still does miracles today." Is that close enough?

What is "Preterism"?

/clueless stumbling mode OFF>

Cheers!

So who are the suckers and what is the big con?

The suckers are the ones who believe the story about wise aliens coming to show us the way to universal prosperity and brotherhood. The big con is whatever those fronting the story are trying to pull off. Like all cons, it won't be prosperity.

As C.S. Lewis said, and I'm paraphrasing here, every age makes its own peculiar mistakes but can also see certain truths more clearly and that we should read old books to see those truths that our own age is blind to. I think there is one old book in particular that pretty well has the true identity of the alien visitors nailed.

Giggle all you wish. I will state it once again that you have never given a cogent definitive proof of the aliens that you keep hinting at.

Superimposing hostile demonic aliens upon the Bible with nothing but vague phrases does nothing to convince anyone.

He [Casteneday] did have one good point though

Many good points, but based on a fraud. I think most of the successful ones have good points, von Danichen had some amazing archeology, Geller trafficked in "psychic phenomenon" that was popular at the time.

You take some truth, mix it with a twist with some other truth, paint it with some imagination, add some mumbo-jumbo, and oila! millions. Many are frauds, some are not, the successful ones have a following of true believers - everyone else to them becomes a naysayer or a persecutor whose existence "proves" you are right by God.

There's also the apocalypticism that arises in Christian sects, such as Millerites, Seventh-day Adventists, Christian Scientists.. You can read Revelations and come up with all kinds of theories, mix this with aliens…

Again, there is some truth mixed in, but you end up with what gives rise to the phrase "gullible Christians".

Invariably naysayers are either ignorant of that or pretend it’s not true . . . when it’s a long, very long accepted fact.

I find your credulity naive at best. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, nobody has a right to their own facts.
